hahaa wow. An infeild of Beltre, Tejada, Soriano/Belliard,Albert, and Ortiz at DH (do they have a DH?).....out field of Manny, Vlad, and (who else?). THAT is a line-up.
The U.S isnt too bad though. With our offense and dominate pitching, we can win this thing. Im so excited for this.

And our pitching alone is going to win this...the more depth, the better off a team is...pitchers aren't gonna go that long in games.

so I looked into it because I figured there had to be a legit reason why Piazza is playing for Italy ..and heres what I found ..

Yes, its very stupid. By this reasoning I could play for Canada, Italy, England, and the U.S. Im sure they allow something like this because if they are lenient with the rules, more players will want to play for other countries, which will draw more viewers. Ill try to find the rule and post it later.

This has to be the most ignorant comment I have heard in a long time. Players have the OPTION to play in this tournament. Nobody is being forced to do it. If someone doesn't want to risk injury, they don't have to. Atheletes go and crash motorcycles and participate in other dangerous activities during their offseasons, but YOU'RE criticizing this? Are there any (american) Indian baseball players? Who would they play for? They don't really have a country, but they have alot of soviergn states. It's actually a joke, but I just find it amusing that their heritage doesn't warrant a country and they would have to play for the US.

If this event spurs more interest in baseball and increases revenues for baseball teams, what's wrong with that? I think you forget that MLB is not just a sport, its a business. The point of a business is to supply the market with a product or service (whatever it may be) and too make money. If you fail to realize the basic goals of a business, I feel sorry for you.

Cool, call me for international baseball competition when the Olympics come around. I might watch then instead of "International Spring Training where the games are limited to a certain number of innings because this is such a farce we're not going to take it serious and play it when no one's in the right condition to play".
