I must say...this album is a big progression from Silence. Less pointless screaming, better vocals, and just an overall better sound. I hated Silence, but If Only is much much better.

This album is actually quite good. I'd say that the lyrics haven't progressed much, but musically it's a lot better. Instead of restating, I will simply quote:

as much as i despise HH, i have to admit to one thing and one thing alone. they are famous. they are making a shit load of money right now and have fans everywhere you go. kudos to that. but as for their musicanship and the talent they posess i give them no credit.

Oh man this is a huge step forward for HH I think the album is pretty badass myself "This is who we are" and "pens and needles" are very catchy songs. It's definitely worth a listen.

I usually dnt psot anyting and just read, but i had to register to say this, Hawthorne heights has gotten so famous and really i dnt know how it happend, there not the best musicans, there music is groundbreaking, its not even the catchiest stuff i ever heard, and it pretty fricking annoying to see them on like crap like MTV every second and even on the radio in some places. But I downloaded this whole cd out of curiosutiy and expected to hate it and i gave it a chance, and I'm here to say I like it, I'm not in like love but its a pretty solid cd, in the sense that they have inproved, liek someone already said tthe pointless screaming is gone, there hardly is any screaming at all actually but the parts where they do scream sound like they should scream where as it seemed very forced on there old cd in a lot of parts. The lyrics arent really much better than something I can write, typical like high school love, agnst , relationship stuff, but its not bad or anything, maybe a little chessy sometimes but most people cant do better, they try. Musically they try more variety on this release than their last too, and it just seems more put together and thought out to me. Hopefully they keep learning more , and progressing and maybe by their next release they can have something really good out, but until then, this cd is seriously allright and not bad at all. Hawthorne Heights arent genre inventors, they dnt sound much differnt than a lot of other bands out there, and their definately not the saviors of punk rock or emo or hardcore or anything for that matter, but their not so terrible at what they do.
