Uhmmm... "word of mouth" fuels music.
How does me telling someone that an album is good, translate into them downloading the album and not purchasing it? Isn't it kind of, uhmm, insulting, of the RIAA to assume that word of mouth results in people strictly downloading music and not buying it?
It would be like Hershey's saying "It's against the law for people to talk about our new Chocolate Bars, because it may result in people stealing them"... maybe, but it would obviously result in more people buying it as well.

Kid1: Oh damn i got pulled over again.
Kid2: Just don't let them search your car
Officer: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Kid1: Umm...I was speeding?
Officer: No. I overhead you talking about some kind of new "music" with your buddy there back at the Denny's around 8 o clock this evening. I'm going to need you to step out of the car.
Thumbs up to the best nation on the planet once again showing us that the idiocy doesn't stop at the white house. Has any one heard of freedom of speech? Oh no? Wow must be an ancient concept.

wow...people need to lighten up. This newspaper started out as a tiny student gig from U of Wisconsin and look where it is now. Its been hilarious for ten years making fun of everyone, doesn't matter who you are. Their 9/11 articles were amazing. I mean "Hugging up 76,000 percent"...priceless. Conan even brought the guys on the show. And no they aren't offensive, very tasteful actually. http://www.theonion.com/content/index/3734 Actually, one of their former writers was a Daily Show writer and is now the head writer for the "Colbert Report". me: "if i told you, that cop over there will beat the monkey piss out of me"

Favorite Onion headline (after September 11th): "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!" in bold black letters over the photo of the planes / towers photo every other paper in the country was running. One the first real laughs I had after that event and maybe most accurate headline about the event.
Second Favorite: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/27870
Before you go thinking 37 people died at a concert, the joke is only record store clerks like Yo La Tengo - If you dont know who Yo La Tengo is replace it with Hella or "!!!" and its just as funny.
....the funniest thing is all the people new to The Onion! :)

The Onion is awesome. My favorite is their "Whats on Television Tonight" segments they do occasionally. Absolutely hilarious and sadly most of the time dead on.

I think if I would've read the entire article rather than get pissed and stop halfway so I could post my rant, I would've gotten the clue that it was a joke by the last sentence...haha so funny...."RIAA attorneys said they were also looking into the legality of word-of-mouth "favorites-sharing" sites, such as coffee chops, universities, and living rooms."
