Anyone heard of this band? i checked them out this morning before work, they sounded alright. I thought it was quite funny though, in their about me section on their myspace page, they try and say how unique they are.

Meh, I downloaded 3D and thought it was kind of mediocre. Overuse of autotune. Maybe it'll grow on me.

3D is pretty damn solid. The first five tracks are huge hitters, then it kinda lets off a little bit until the final track. Still, a decent album.

I got 3D! and its pretty awesome. Heaps of fun! some of the songs just drastically change, its cool.
can't say i like them
his voice is actually pretty good, and they're pretty catchy
but i lose all respect for bands that add to the "screaming + singing" shit genre, not to mention adding to the overuse of synth riffs

Sea Of Treachery actually broke up a while ago, a few months atleast, and are getting back together with their original vocalist Alex, the old band just disagreed on too much and were sick of touring, and now Sumerian is putting the band back together with a whole new set of guys and the original vocalist who was actually kicked out and replaced by a local vocalist of a different band, dumb decision imo, but anyways, expect some more good stuff to come from SOT in the near future.
P.S. At Daggers Drawn was actually better than Sea of Treachery, just saying.

They see potential, they are putting a somewhat Sumerian records super band type thing together. With a lineup that has decent sized musicians from numerous bands, though I don't know specific bands or names, but it should be known by the summer I would think. Plus, Alex is great with managing his own band and other bands, which basically is a special gift for any record labels, if they don't have to do much work, they love it.

I See Stars has been working very hard on the long awaited release of their first full length album. The forthcoming album is titled 3D. The album strays away from all the musical features you are used too, blending all genres of music, in hopes to set the bar for a new unique sound. Since there has been a surplus of "electronica / hardcore" music, the pages will be turned again, and new eyes will be opened, to bands and fans alike. Songs from the brand new cd will be going up very soon, so keep your eyes open and continue to support us, because we are nothing without the love.

I absolutely love this band. I've seen them four times and it'll be six times come June, but this album pisses me off. There's only 1 legit new song off the whole thing. If you ever looked at their MySpace or saw them live before the album, then you'd only receive a handful of "new" material. It's fucking weak.
Plus, they don't sound anything like the new recordings live. If you heard the old recordings of their songs, then that's what you'd hear live.

Second, I'm also not in here to rip this band. I see when someone starts to talk badly of band you like you begin to get defensive. Also, didn't I kind of admit on my profile that Attack! Haha I was provoked because I like DejaNew and you had no reason to disclude his opinion from the discussion merely because of the bands in his profile. So what if he was harsh about it? I realize that I came across as a dick, but you've gotta admit, there have been some bands that you absolutely hate. Personally, I think this is terrible music, but that's my opinion. In no way, shape or form did I attempt to personally bash any individual's music taste, until you started to bash mine. So if you're willing to settle this, I totally am too. Well I'm a huge Drive-Thru Records-era pop punk fan(NFG, Midtown, The Starting Line). I, belive it or not, like a lot punk bands like The Descendents, Bad Religion, The Bouncing Souls, The Loved Ones and others. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of bands like this but it's fun and inoffensive music. Sure there's not a ton of artistical merit to these bands but, I'm fine with it.
Edit: Best representation of my favorite bands would be the bands that I'm a fan of on my profile.

Attack Attack! was a guilty pleasure when their album came out then it got old (for me). They kind resemble each other. But this is alright. For now.

I know this topic is old, but I rather bump this then be annoying and start a new one...
I just saw them Live for the first time yesterday.. They should just stay in the studio.. The singer stayed in like one damn key the whole set he was fucking terrible.. The screamer was good, but he just sounds likea Chicago Local DORIAN'S DECAY who I much rather listen to anyday... I dont have to see them again

I'm trying to think of bands to compare them to. Any thoughts?
Aside from Attack Attack!, I'd say Of Machines (http://www.myspace.com/ofmachinestheband).

Not at all. That record was slightly dissapointing and the clean vocals got annoying because he kept on wailing all the time. I can't really compare them to SEA since I've yet to but the s/t though I do have EPOTWD.

Again, I can't say. I don't have the s/t. When I do get it, I'll be able to say which is better/I like more.

Well everyone looks for different things when watching a band live, and I have seen that too, but personally, I thought they were good, they got the audience into it, now it was in Cincinnati which is a huge place for heavier music. And they strive on audiences that are more involved in the hardcore shows, or metal shows, the audience and the band just made the show excellent, I wouldn't say it was the best show I have seen (cause Funeral For A Friend was probably that, when comparing to what they sound like on the cd), but they were good, and I won't deny that, he hit high high notes and did good vocal stuff, so I was definitely impressed with them, I anticipated them sucking, but I was wrong, that is how I saw it.

Most of the problem the people have is that when their singer sings the older songs, he's not that great.

He put more vocal changes in the new album, I feel like he will be a "Silverstein" type case where when he started he was just kinda not good, but as time progresses he finds his niche in the vocal world.

Plus, they had more of a punk singing style in the first album, this album is a little less punky singing and more harmonic vocally.

I love I See Stars. This album was at the top of my list since like... September of 08.
With that being said, I can understand the complaints from people that have seen them live. The vocalist doesn't sing like he sings on the record, but it still sounds pretty great. Plus, the crowds love this band... they opened for A Skylit Drive here in Michigan, ISS' hometown, and almost had the same energy throughout the crowd as ASD had. This band is the best representation of their genre, at least as far as the poppy fan is concerned. I know a lot of people that can't stand screaming, but love this band.
Also, they kind of are doing something somewhat original. There aren't too many other bands out there with the same overall sound that ISS has. Most of the bands in the genre have a huge amount of screaming, and not to much singing. The only other bands that sound anything like ISS are Sky Eats Airplane, Before Their Eyes, and Broadway.... and I guess Attack Attack!

they are generic. but they are my favorite band of this "genre."
i got 3D, and wasn't too impressed. then i saw them open for A Day to Remember, and they rocked it. i got into 3D some more after that. although, "sing this!" is intolerable. i think it's awful. and "the ocean" is a bit pointless. if it wasn't for those two songs, it would be probably top three albums of the year for me.
I enjoy them since they're a hometown band and I've seen them mature over the years. They do have a very pop-oriented sound, which makes it kind of a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless.

Oh wait we're talking about I See Stars. They're not bad, i like'em but nothing original, as is the case with most electronic/hardcore/whatever bands now days. They don't do anything that pushes them out of what's already out there.
