90s/00s...i didnt have a proper name for it. but lets go for it. Best "my wave" punk bands...like im aware many of these bands started in the late 80s...and im also leaving off many "pop" punk bands like green day and blink....but if you see the choices, you clearly see what direction im going in. Mainstream, warped tour 90s punk? idk go.

MxPx wasn't ever straight up punk rock, at least I didn't think so. I've always kind of put em alongside Sum 41, Blink-182, etc. The sound, the lyrical content was virtually identical.

A tough one, since a lot of those bands are in heavy rotation on my iPod. I voted Bad Religion, but if I ranked them in general...

Bad Religion (And I counter the person who said their best material was in the 80s with Process Of Belief. Amazing album.)
Anti-Flag
Rancid
Bouncing Souls
AFI
Pennywise
Suicide Machines
Dropkick Murphys
MxPx
NOFX

H20 are the only band on there I've never actually listened to. Though among bands that would fall under other, definitely agreeing with the dude that said Millencolin. Massively underrated group. I saw them play with The Offspring years ago, and they were great.

AFI's old stuff was def 90's figuring they formed in 91'

1995: Answer That and Stay Fashionable
1996: Very Proud of Ya
1997: Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes
1999: Black Sails in the Sunset

after there 2000 Release, who cares crap.. blah blah blah.. all there good stuff was those 5 years and the side project Son Of Sam in 2001

i def wouldnt put MXPX on there as "punk" judging by how the rest of the line up is..

the first few bands seem standard warped bands who are there every year/every tour.. there is so many other bands out there that you can consider.. ALL, ALK3, Atari's, Boy Sets Fire, ETC.............

And i picked H2o..

Ataris, Alkaline Trio? Meh, this is a different sect in my mind. But they couldve seen this list I guess.

yes but i mean, based from this list....you clearly saw the direction I was going with. Sure...bands like ALL, Millencolin, Casualties couldve seen this list...but, beh....this was mostly a 90s pop punk bonanza, which is why Im sorta dissapointed that MXPX is winning. They're so "okay" its not even funny.

Pennywise are easily the best band on the list. To me they sum up the definition of good punk rock 100%, even if they are a bit repetitive.

After Pennywise i would have choosen other and picked No use for a name, Pulley or Ten Foot Pole. All three are really underrated.

Face to face, Millencolin, Strung Out, Bigwig, Vandals, Propagandhi, Good Riddance, Lagwagon all deserve a mention and could have been on the list.

(Sweet pole btw)

i good have put those bands up there...but come on....do you think any of them would have a chance to pull out a win. H2O perhaps shouldntve ended up on this list.... im surprised, kinda, that DKM isnt getting the support in this poll. Perhaps its cause you wont find many DKM fans on this site, but thats okay.

bigwig would be on my personal top 5, but again...if they got more than 5 votes i wouldve been shocked.

O yeah im not argueing with your list, just saying that the bands i mentioned are all just as good as the ones you listed. However i am suprised Lagwagon and Strung Out werent on your list over the likes of H2O and Bouncing Souls, i would have said they have had a much bigger impact.

descendants are such a classic punk band they do deserve to be on this list. i think they'd get a high rating, i d vote for them. i chose anti-flag tho.

AFI for sure, Totalimmortal is one of my favorite songs ever. And I think that although it cant be called punk, Sing the Sorrow is still incredible.

yes yes yes yes this. but now adays i dont seem a f i as punk anymore, more of like dark rock.

yeah i do think they go together but with the popularity of the bands you mentioned compared to the ones that are picked, are much lesser and most likely would fall very very short. hence the category other.

I wouldnt say they arnt too many DKM fans, i would just say they arnt too many old 90's style punk fans on AP at all unfortunately. Were in the minority

mmm dropkick are one of my favorites too. i saw them with the aggrolites and the krays in north carolina last year. lots of drunken men were there, and a hell of a good time. i recommend going to see them live.

Serious? Not sure how well you know Mxpx, but if you look at their back catalogue they certainly have alot punkier songs that the general pop punk/rock stylings of Blink and Sum. Sure Mxpx are certainly the most poppiest of the 90;s skate punk style, but i sure as hell wouldnt classify them in the same league as Blink, and especially not Sum 41

you might know them a little better than i, but from all the songs i ve heard, i picture old blink 182 and old sum 41 being just like :
Life In General
Teenage Politics
and
Ten Years and Running

and even some of their other stuff i can picture sum 41 s new stuff like Wrecked Hotel Rooms and any thing off of 'B-movie'.

i'm a little confused on the back catalogue tho?

Hmm i dunno, i respect where your coming from. Maybe its just cause ive always classified them quite differently and its blocking my judgement, but i dunno, i just put blink and especially sum 41 in far different extremes of pop punk than mxpx. Although your write in saying old blink and mxpx are comparable.

Either way, all three are great bands imo, sum 41 kinda went a-stray throughout their course though haha

haha agreed, all are great.

each are definately different in their own way, but in a lot of ways i look back on their footage of d v d s and i m like there's that sense of immaturity there that makes these bands pop punk.

i miss the immaturity now tho, go back to talking about fucking dogs blink, sum go back to making a joke that a lot of pop punk bands have numbers in their names, green day go back to sniffing glue, mxpx go back to dyeing your koolaid blue hair you know?

they say the 90 s are back, but what about the styles, i miss them a lot...

Of the list its AFI hands down with NOFX in a close second place. For those of you who are not familiar with AFI's first 5 albums and the All Hallows and A Fire Inside ep then you are missing out on some of the best punk ever made. Disappointed that bands like Strung Out, Good Riddance, Millencolin, and No Fun At All did not make the list. I would even put the Deviates above most on this list despite only making two albums
