But posting 50,000 word short stories on here seems to be a fatuous endeaver

I can see us under the Egyptian pyramids
The casted shadows erasing all the light and the space under our feet
I can see us floating back through time
Relevant to the observer
In crafted hammocks strung from trees in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon
I can see us thirsting through the desert
Crying out for mercy
As manna falls like fresh snow, filling up our labored trail of footstep-maps
I can see us in a desecrated city
Fighting lips beneath the Eiffel Tower’s leaning and twisted shell
Our shadows strewn across the upturned cobblestone
Like mollusks dropped from gulls
Framed in mushroom cloud fragment shadows
For no one to find other than the hot, dead wind
Blowing placidly, slightly whispering as if to taunt us with secrets we should have already figured out
I can see us on an urban dock
As the giant waves rush towards us
In a hurry to erase the man-made god
The cityscape
The backdrop behind us
Until we are buried under Atlantis waters
Coagulated skeleton lovers at the bottom of nature’s wishing well
I can see us in a junkie, squat-house
Searching each other’s bodies for clean vessel veins
For our shared, poison-capped needle
It’s a game
A he said, she said
Who can die first
Sort of game
And I can see us on the playground
Little kids playing hopscotch, rolling dice
For nothing other than bragging rights
And to wag our tongues like ill-stricken dogs
When the other turns around
