I saw Champion at 924 Gilman St. in Berkeley. I never saw more graffiti in one place! The general enviroment was very unsavory. However, the show was still fun.
Dead Hearts are awesome but not many people were into them. The First Step had some pretty cool guitar parts. They called shout outs to everyone they knew, like a rap show! Crime in Stereo was good but there wasn't nearly enough guitar on "Slow Math"!
Mostly I wanna talk about Champion. I only went to this show to see Dead Hearts and Crime In Stereo. But Champion stole the show for me. They were amazing. The lead singer said it was the bass player's last show. He also made an inspiring speech about how lucky we hc kids were to have 924 Gilman St. and our own hardcore crews. That last line made me sad because i have no crew, but at least I have a Gilman membership card.
When Champion performed I finally got to do what I really wanted at a show: get beat up. And I certainly did. Luckily I left without a scratch on me.
