I'm going in Brooklyn, NY and Worcester, MA. Nightmare Of You is opening the Worcester show, but I think Death In The Park is opening in Brooklyn. I'm so psyched cause I'm down with every band.

I'm thinking about buying tickets for May 5th if they're still available, considering it's Saves The Day, Alkaline Trio and Nightmare of You. Ugh, between work, classes and an hour-and-a-half drive, I'm not sure if I will go through with it.
I wish this show was coming to Dallas, I still haven't seen AK3

04/20/09, 06:03 AM
okay okay, are you ready for this?
Here's Des Moines set from last night.
I have Saves the Day and Alkaline Trio... the opening band was Death in the Park, and I don't know their stuff... hah...
anyway... both of these setlists are exact and in order...
Saves the Day
Head For The Hills
The End
Driving In The Dark
Firefly
Holly Hox
Anywhere With You
Can't Stay The Same
Eulogy
Freakish
Where Are You
Radio (someone yelled out a request for it, not sure if was on original setlist)
Rocks Tonic Juice Magic
At Your Funeral (was supposed to be final song, but they realized they had 5 more minutes, haha)
Kaleidoscope
After the show I talked to Chris and asked if he would play Blindfolded for me in Chicago tonight, but he said the new guitarist doesn't know it. :( He said he'd play it for me outside though, hah. of course it didn't happen, but that would have been AMAZING..
now for Alkaline Trio...
My Friend Peter
If We Never Go Inside
Burn
Fatally Yours
Queen of Pain
Love Love Kiss Kiss
I Found Away
Continental
Cooking Wine
The Poison
Calling All Skeletons
Sadie
One Hundred Stories

San Francisco
This Could Be Love
Encore
Time To Waste
Every Thug Needs a Lady
All On Black
It was pretty cool, minus the two 15 year old girls in front of me wearing flipflops complaining about the crowd and complaining about how much they hate Chris Conley's voice. This angered me :-P
Anyway... I'm on 3 hours of sleep... have to work 8 hours and I'm going to the Metro show tonight. Wish me luck and I hope the setlists help... I'll try to get them for tonight too.

Heh. AP is made up of people who half ass support everything. So when I say their new stuff sucks and mean it, someone's gotta say throw the word "progression" around. When in reality it's just "subpar" and "watered down." GM is great. Everything after that is a huge question mark. I feel like they don't even care about the second half of both Crimson and Agony.

Just got back from Alkaline Trio in Milwaukee and the good news is that they closed with Radio. Other than that they show was kind of disappointing. Not the fault of the bands really. Saves the Day ended up having alot of instrument issues, and had to stop part way through the set. Chris tried to continue acoustically taking requests from the crowd, he only got through two or three before the Rave cut him off. I did like the set list for Trio give or take a few songs (I don't remember them playing Donner Party). Couldn't hear some vocals due to poor sound (although that's nothing new for the Rave) and guitars would occasionally just drop out. I was excited to hear older songs, but this wasn't their best show.

While Saves The Day's setlists seem just "ok", I feel like this tour really just serves the purpose of warming up Arun (both in the band, and to the crowds), seeing as how they aren't really touring to promote an album or anything. Once Arun finishes these dates, he'll be able to practice a whole new set of tunes. Maybe some recording (?), then we'll have the Saves The Day tour we've all been waiting for this year.
Also, for those who have gone...how long are each band on stage? I'm guessing (by the setlists) Saves The Day gets about 55 minutes and Alkaline Trio gets an hour-fifteen?

I went to the Allentown PA show last night. Great show. The setlists weren't my desire setlists per say but it was still a good show. Death In The Park opened pretty good opener they had some catchy tunes.
Here is what I recall from the setlists:
Saves The Day (not in correct order but close)
Anywhere With You
The End
Holly Hox, Forget Me Nots
Freakish
Where Are You
Cars and Calories
What Went Wrong
Shoulder To The Wheel
Sound The Alarm
Driving In The Dark
Radio
Firefly
Some may be out of order and I may be missing 1 but I'm pretty sure that was it. They were gonna do another song before Firefly but didn't have time so they just closed with Firefly. The Crowd really dug the older tunes but where into it the whole set. Lots of requests being shouted out through out the whole set. I thought they played great especially since they just got a new guitarist. I met Chris after the show awesome dude he was just hanging out in the parking lot talking to fans for a long time.
Alkaline Trio (probably not in order but once again close)
opened with My Friend Peter (which they renamed My Friend Derek for the night since it was his birthday)
If We Never Go Inside
Burn
Fatally Yours
I'm Dying Tomorrow
Queen of Pain
I Found Away
Continental
Cooking Wine
The Poison
Calling All Skeletons
Sadie
San Francisco
One Hundred Stories
This Could Be Love
encore:
Every Thug Needs A Lady
Radio
I might be missing 1 again but that was pretty much it. Oh and they had a cover in the middle but I forgot what it was but I know it wasn't the KKK cover or Metro. The Trio were great I thought. I would have liked to hear a little more from Infirmary and Maybe I'll Catch Fire but overall still a good set I thought. The crowd was great for them. Especially for Cooking Wine, This Could Be Lover and Radio which the crowd basically sang since they drowned out Matt and Dan they where so loud.
Awesome to see 2 of my favorite bands in the same show. My only complaint would be that I wish STD had a little more time to play I think they should have had equal time with Alk Trio. But other than that it was a great show.

Tickets say 7PM but that doesn't mean the show will start then. This is me responding to the starland question. Oh and I see a nice mix of set lists being posted for Alkaline Trio. The only thing I'm hoping for is a LONG set. A couple of songs of Infirmary wouldn't hurt either.

There must not be an opening act for the Pittsburgh, PA show. I checked Nightmare of You and Death in the Park's Myspace tour dates and neither listed a stop at Pittsburgh. Maybe Saves the Day will play a longer set? We could only wish.

horrible setlist by ak3
Well I enjoyed it a lot because I love Good Mourning.
Here's what I'm sure of from Saves The Day's set from Highline Ballroom NYC 4/28/2009:
Anywhere With You
Holly Hox, Forget Me Nots
The End
Firefly
Freakish
At Your Funeral
Eulogy
Shoulder To The Wheel
Obviously, they played a few more that I can't remember, stuff off In Reverie and Under The Boards. (Can you tell which 2 of their albums I don't have? ;] )
But not a single song from Can't Slow Down! I know they've been playing only 1 a night but I was expecting, well, at least one.
I also was surprised to find that they're selling a remake of a shirt that's from back in 1998-99. It's black with 3 red stars and says "Saves The Day" in white script across the front. The original version had Jodie lyrics on the back: "Stop me before I say too much." The new printing does not.

For anyone going to this show in Cleveland the tickets are on sale tomorrow for only $9.23 because of Live Nation and some promotion by the radio station 92.3 . It is a one day sale, only tomorrow and it def. made my day. I just got an email today informing me of it. All I know is that I believe the link is http://www.livenation.com/event/getEvent/eventId/404771//?c=dm-1608956&p=45055300 and that should work for the cheap tickets.
EDIT:STD's set better not be cut short. I like both bands a lot but STD Is one of my favs. Also with Alk 3 not playing any FHTI it kind of pisses me off. No doubt their best record and they don't want to play anything off it?

Matt Skiba - "I'd give it a B, maybe a B-, you can't get an A on your first try."
Dan Andriano "Yeah, A's aren't good anyway, if I got any A's in high school, I wouldn't be up here right now, so who knows if that's a good or bad thing."
But yeah, I tried to submit this as news but it hasn't been posted yet. Then again I may try again because I had my girlfriend send it from her Blackberry on the drive home so that's not the most realiable.

I'll post the setlist from the Sonar Blatimore show wen I get home. I got the setlist from chris. Off the top of my head I remember alkaline trio opening with my friend peter and closing with radio.
the new guitarist for saves the day was chill. seemed relaxed but since he's just started, you could tell there was not much "groovieness" with him and the band. I mean manny's chill as fuck so he just sits in the back and jams and chris is the only one really moving. Although when they closed with Kaledioscope, everyone was fucking thrashing at the end. Not a big fan of that song but the end was pretty epic, just straight out jamming hardcore.

I was also disappointed they didn't play "as your ghost takes flight" on this tour. They almost always play it. I've only seen them play "bones" and "banned from the back porch" once each. A few of us went to the show in Lancaster, PA (The Chameleon) with the STD set list similar to the one in Sonar. Overall, both STD and Alk3 gave good performances. The beginning of STD set was a little odd because at first, no one was moving around or really getting into it with the exception of a few of us until "Firefly" started playing.
I was a little hesitant about STD closing with "Kaleidoscope" but it sounded really good live. Definitely a great closer. Alk3 never has disappointed me at a show and played a decent mix of songs from their albums. As always, it would be nice if they played this track as opposed to another but it was ok.
Overall, good show with a decent crowd around chanting songs and genuinely having a good time.

I guess i just really want a dance set list from std. upbeat songs that you can move around to. I love all of their songs, but many of them I can't really sing with or I could get the same thing listening to it at home. There's a certain feeling you get to singing along with as your ghost takes flight or hearing a whole group of people sing along to rock tonic juice magic. I think i like many of the songs they placed, but more for the acoustic tour. But it's their perogative.
I wish they could headline their won tour like the trio did with against me! a few years back when they were supporting the 10th anniversary of Goddammit. Then they could put on a rocking set, do a few acoustic songs and then finish with whatever the hell they want. God, that trio tour was awesome. Freaking two hour set and on top of that you got against me! opening for them!

I'm almost guaranteed to be let down by this show if I go in with high expectations, because of what STD gave this town last year.
what they did last year, SWYA straight through... i can die happy after that. I KNOW i'm going to be disappointed but i'm obligated to go to repay STD for doing that for Orlando.
now that David's gone they aren't gonna play as much old stuff...that sucks, STD used to be like Trio in the aspect that they'd play different sets every night
Alkaline was on fire in Charlotte tonight, they were a lot of fun, and the crowd really got into it:
My Friend Peter
If We Never Go Inside
I Found Away
Calling All Skeletons
Cooking Wine
Burn
The Poison
Sadie
KKK Took My Baby Away
I’m Dying Tomorrow
Cringe
This Could Be Love
One Hundred Stories
All On Black
Fatally Yours
Donner Party
Radio
Saves the Day was good too, but the crowd was just not into them:
Anywhere With You

Driving in the Dark?
Head for the Hills
The End
At Your Funeral
Cars & Calories
Firefly
Shoulder to the Wheel
Holly Hox

Thats basically it, but switch Driving In The Dark with Can't Stay The Same, and put Can't Stay the Same after Radio.
I always love seeing Saves The Day. They were still really enjoyable, even after last year's show being amazing as it was. I was hoping for some Rocks Tonic, but no luck. Very thankful we got Shoulder To The Wheel and Can't Stay The Same.
Alk3 bored me to hell with that set. I'm sure everyone else had a blast, but fuck, I just can't get into Good Mourning.
I will say that I absolutely LOVED the Ramones cover, and how they used 100 Stories to transition right into that song. Really awesome to hear them play that live. I grew up on the MxPx cover version, but I've never seen a band play it live. So that was the highlight of the set for me.
Nightmare Of You was amazing as always:
I Dont Want To Dance Anymore
My Name Is Trouble

I Want To Be Buried In Your Backyard
Why Am I Always Right

Just couldn't agree more with this statement. Feel like the Good Mourning songs aren't translated all that well live and it just came across as a somewhat flat show. I did enjoy Continental and All on Black though. Also, 8 songs off of any album is fucking ridiculous, especially when its not a new one they're promoting. Also wish they'd close with something else than Radio.
Bitching aside, still a pretty decent show. Thrilled to hear Sadie again and I'm Dying Tomorrow was great. The new Dan song was really fantastic too, hope its a sign of things to come.

haha, glad I'm not alone in this statement. Just seemed like an odd bunch of songs to play when there's much better songs they could have been playing.

Yeah, I've seen them play better. I liked their performance last April at the Social more. I was just so surprised that there were so few people there who knew them. Obviously, when there are fewer fans, we get a lot more individual appreciation from the band and I enjoy that. Like, I got direct eye contact from Joseph on multiple occasions and he smiled at me a lot for knowing the words and "woo"-ing a bunch during his riffs, hahaha. Brandon looked pretty dead, though. I can't wait for them to come back to Orlando in July.

Also I officially hate "Jessie and My Whetstone" now since I had to deal with the 3-5 morons in front of me who decided to yell "JESSIE!" at the top of their lungs after every single song of Saves the Day's set, one time when they paused during a song, and then at least 2 more times during Alkaline Trio's set. At first it was just one guy, then 2 of them did it together, the 3rd guy wandered off. Then the two did it and I heard someone from another side of the venue do it. I was hanging out by the soundboard. I'm kinda short and a bit over the whole "being pushed while just trying to stand still not in the actual pit" thing. So I've stay off the floor lately. Somehow the idiot conventions always seem to find me though. At Rise Against I was on the left side on the upper stairs and some guy starts ramming his head into my back/side. I turned around and was like "Dude are you FUCKING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?" But then somehow I'm the guy who is uptight and a bad element. I spent most of RA's set at the bar that night.

Not just once. Several times repeatedly. But yeah, this wasn't even on the floor. I think there's just really stupid people in this area that go to shows.
Like NOFX last year and the people in the balcony throwing FULL open beers down at people. Good way to waste $4.50

There are too many UCF bros that come to shows. I hate it when people throw alcohol around and I especially hate it when people throw beer bottles. It really pissed me off when some dude threw a beer bottle during Alk3's encore and it landed near Dan's mic stand. I don't understand why people do stuff like that. There's no logic behind it.

Hahaha, HoB as a venue isn't too bad (with the exception of their no-camera policy). Hard Rock is a horrible venue, but no good bands play there (except for Death Cab) so HR doesn't really matter. Sometimes bigger bands will play at The Social. Brand New played at the Social back in '06 and Cursive played there last week. But, yeah, I like the Social better than HoB (Backbooth and Firestone are so-so).

Are you referring to AntiPop?
Haha, well I wasn't but now that you bring it up, I only made it out to see Pelican for AntiPop.
Flawless live show.
I saw Colour Revolt, Nightmare of You/Edison Glass/Jukebox The Ghost, Matt Pryor/KevDev, Copeland/Lovedrug/Lydia twice, and Manchester Orchestra/KevDev/All Get Out at the Social last year. Oh and RX Bandits!
I think the best show I saw at the HOB last year was Against Me!, Saves The Day's SWYA show, or Thrice's headlining show last April.
Harvest of Hope fest was sick, too.

I went to the Maylene/Showbread/ASL and Owen/Rainer Maria shows (complete opposites, hahaha). I was at that NoY show earlier last year, as well as one of the Copeland shows (I went the first night) later in the year. I don't think I saw anything at HoB last year. My attitude and tastes toward music last year led me in the direction of strictly smaller shows.

According to this, the 3 new songs they've been playing are called "Dine, Dine My Darling," "Dead on the Floor," and "The Addiction"
I just think it's funny that JR from Less Than Jake hung out with them about a week or two ago and Skiba got him really drunk and then all of a sudden The Trio announce they're starting their own label. I bet JR got shitfaced and told them to do it lol. Not really.

Hahaha, so some guy basically head-butted you? How does that happen?! Anyway, yeah, I'm beginning to think that I'm getting a little too old for that kind of stuff and that I'm probably better off watching from the balcony.
But, yeah, I like the Social better than HoB (Backbooth and Firestone are so-so).
ahahaha i love all the hate for the HOB. I hate that venue so much. I think the Social is my favorite venue that I've been to in my 7 years of going to shows. Ive been more times than i can count. Most of my favorite bands played it last year and I love the small setting.
1: Your 20, im 21, and i go to shows and you just made me feel 70, thanks, though i dont go in the middle of the pits, I like being upfront or on the side.
2.-.-...Im probably going to Ucf, so now im classed into a group that i havent done anything for yet, nice, and i dont get why people throw beers, and ciggerattes for that matter, someone kept flicking lit ciggerrates off the balcony at the std show, and like 4 people got kicked out for smoking weed, it was kind of funny.
3.I dont like Hob, like, at all.
4.The social is awesome.
5.Brand new hates boca, Jesse said it himself. lol
and I totally just learned how to multiquote, I own.

that brand new show was so sick, i remember it cost me 200 bucks for two tickets to that show for my then girlfriend. I missed cursive last week, but i got to see them two days in a row back in 04 with the blood brothers and eastern youth opening booth nights.
backbooth is good if you know the people there, i'm friends with a couple bartenders so they always make the nights a little better. Firestone is horrible for rock shows (they are extremely bass heavy) but when i saw the faint their last year it was easily one of the best sounding shows i've heard.

I got one of the new songs on video, no idea which one though, they said new song and i had my camera in my hand, so i recorded it, but the bad lighting kind of fucked it up, you cant see any of their faces because of the colored lighting, the sounds perfect though.

House of Blues once refused to let me in until I discarded of a Sharpie that I had attached to my keys. The no-camera policy is lame, but that was just ridiculous. The stupid rules make me hate going there because I never know what they're going to tell me.

Here's Trio's set for Orlando 5/9 in order:
My Friend Peter
If We Never Go Inside
Burn
Fatally Yours
Continental
I'm Dying Tomorrow
I Found Away
Donner Party
Cooking Wine
The Poison
Calling All Skeletons
New Song
Sadie
One Hundred Stories
KKK
All On Black
Cringe
This Could Be Love
----------
Every Thug Needs a Lady
Radio
I think the new song they played was different than the one they played a few nights ago, but who knows.
Despite the lack of Infirmary, I thought it was a really good show.
I love this set-list.... a few songs I haven't seen live in a while. I would like to see Cop and/or Trucks and Trains. I have never seen them play Trucks and Trains.

i would say the orlando show was better than the tampa show, but i got to hang out with chris for a while after the tampa show, so there is really no contest; he said he was getting arun to work on a lot more songs after this tour for their upcoming headlining tour and the first song he gets him to learn will be sell my old clothes

Yeah, you basically can't bring anything in. And if you're a girl and you bring a bag, they have to look through EVERYTHING. Even your wallet, if it's too big.

TWO HUNDRED BUCKS???? That's insane! Tickets were only, like, $15. If a guy spent $100 on my ticket to see Brand New, I'd be morally obliged to never break up with him.
I saw Cursive on Wednesday and ohhhh that Tim Kasher. I think I fall in love with him every time I see him perform.
I don't like the layout of Backbooth. I hate that wall divider in front of the bar. And Firestone doesn't put on a lot of shows, but I've seen Girl Talk perform there twice and I had a lot of fun.

yeah the tickets were sold on when i found out about the show so i had to buy them on e-bay. at the time we didn't have internet so i found out about it about a week after tickets went on sale. Girl talk was so fun at the Firestone, i caught him last year with grand buffett. Amazing Time, i wish i would have caught him this year, but i got in a car accident the day before (on the way to harvest of hope, none the less) so i couldn't go.
