I've never really done this before, but I thought it might be nice to see what people make of my band.

It would be lovely to see what you think we are doing right, and what we are doing wrong. More than anything, constructive criticism would be nice.
We've been going for about a year and a half, but have just changed drummers.
Anyway, please let me know what you think of us!

Also, it would be nice if anyone can draw comparisons with bigger bands, and maybe even some subgenres. Any feedback is welcome, but the one thing I ask is that negative points be constructive! :)

The singer doesn't seem like he's into it at all. Get him some energy drinks before the next time you record haha. He doesn't have a bad voice, he just needs to put more of an edge to it in certain parts considering the music is pretty fast. I don't know to me it would just seem more likable that way. And the music is generic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

whey some feedback! thank you very much! :)
we aren't looking to push any boundries really so i guess we could seem a little generic.
haha yeah i see where you're coming from too. he's a lot better live. i think it's with recording, we just keep doing take afer take until we get a perfect one and he had lost the energy.
thanks a lot for some advice though.

Yeah no problem. I actually know where you're coming from. Me and my friend record stuff and I do vocals, and I agree it gets pretty tiring especially after recording vocals, backing vocals, and the guitars by myself. It's a tiring process, but it's still fun. But yeah keep working hard, and just keep trying to improve. You guys can only get better, since you're still pretty new and all.

Yeah, I agree that the vocals need some energy. He just sounds pretty reserved and almost bored with the music. Most notably, the gang vocals line in "Mandy" sounds like everyone is really into it but the singer. I've never recorded vocals myself so I don't know how tiring it would be, but yeah that's really the biggest thing I can think of for these recordings.

cool thanks for the advice.
it was quite tiring for us, because it was the first time we recorded properly in a studio and to stand there for hours singing the same song really took it out of him. each day we left the studio we all felt pretty downbeat, and drained. we were pleased with the results though. however it is safe to say that i dont think any of us enjoy recording! haha!

Haha, that sounds miserable. You guys should just buy your own equipment. If you all put money together, it's not that much. And if you learn how to use the equipment properly, you can get it to sound really good. And it's fun too.

yeah it wasnt too great. it was mid summer and pretty hot, and we had a long drive to the studio. the studio we recorded in had a small room, that we were doing everything in (computer wise) and it got so stuffy in there. And that does sound like a good idea, but if someone leaves the band or we break up or something, who would get to keep it?! haha! and from my experience of recording alone, i found it bloody hard! haha.
is there anywhere i can hear your recorded stuff?

Yeah that's definitely understandable. Sorry if I seemed to just focus on something negative, the music actually sounds alright. Like the other guy said, it's pretty generic, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you guys aren't really looking to break barriers, I'd say you're on the right track.

Yeah, but the one song we actually finished recording is all fucked up. My singing had so many flaws and the kid that comes over and records us with his stuff put the vocals for the first chorus in the wrong spot ... so they kind of don't match up. And he never finished editing the song either, so we just forgot about it. We were just having fun, it's nothing serious at all. So know we're working on another song that is way better. It's more like your stuff. We just basically want to sound like NFG. haha. I'll probably post that one here when it's done since I have a lot more confidence in it.

You can go there to listen to it. But it's unfinished, kind of old, and not good. haha. I'm just showing you that self recording can sound some what decent, considering he wasn't even done editing this.

Shit man, that are a lot of excuses.. It's a fucked up recording. Quality is ok..
Cheapest way for decent recording is to do everything digital. (even the drums)

Yeah I know, but I was just getting my point across. I just wanted to show him that the quality can be somewhat decent using self recording and such. I was trying to show off my song or anything bacause I'm in no way proud of it.
