New.
I like the new, mature, musically experimental style of their newer albums, IoH especially.

I went with the old stuff. TTTYG is so awesome and better than anything they have done since then in my opinion. Grand Theft Autum is still one of my favorite pop-punk songs ever.

I like the old Fall Out Boy a little more. But only because I wasn't too big of a fan of IOH

Old. FAD is better than IOH, but TTTYG and FUCT beat them all.
But I really love new also, FAD is catchy as hell

Um, let's see: old - some of the best pop-punk ever made, new - total sell-out, radio bull-shit. Tough call.

I honestly enjoy both pretty much equally.

If you want pop-punk with sincere, angsty lyrics that you can really get into, then Take This To Your Grave is where it's at. If you want catchy-as-balls pop-rock songs that are unique and with each song having it's own musical diversity, then Folie a Deux is the album.

I fail to see how they drastically changed or "sold out". Everything they've done has seemed like a natural progression, to me.

TTTYG > FAD > IOH > FUCT (imo)

FAD is easily their best album, so I voted for "New," but IOH was mostly boring, and I also enjoy TTTYG.

Evening Out With Your Girlfriend is easily their worst, without a doubt... I don't even really consider it a full album, it's basically just 9 demos, one of which ended up being re-worked and made better for TTTYG anyways. FOB themselves have even said they consider that album to be their worst, if I remember correctly.

while i picked old FOB, i agree, this album is fucking horrendous, i too dont even count it as an album, i got straight to grave as their debut. ur right i heard Stumpy saying they hate it too

i voted for old fall out boy, but despite my vote, I understand why fall out boy has to evolve their sound. take this to your grave is a great cd and all, but continueing that sound for every record would be like blink 182 continueing their same immature highschool lyrics till they were in their 30's. i like blink 182, but they really needed to grow up with their sound. i am still optimistic about fall out boy. it's not they're new style thats alienating fans, but rather fangirls/ scene kids that make going to their concerts embarrassing.

Doesn't mean it didn't exist.

Also why EOWYG and FUCT should both be included into this poll.

I voted old because I enjoy the more pop punk/faster songs more than the other stuff they've done.

The new has more soul which I am all about.

Fall Out Boy lyrics are always so hard for me to describe. I feel like they sound so much like they want to have meaning, but at their core, they don't have much substance, new or old. The songs usually have a message(s), but often I don't get much out of that message.

I definitely agree with the more soul part. I don't care what anyone says, I like new FOB. You can only do so much with that pure pop punk sound. I feel like they did all they could with it on TTTYG.

TTTYG will always be my fav just because it was the first time I hear them, but I can still appreciate everything they have released since.

I guess I can understand liking a decidely bad record if it was the first time I heard a band that I really grew to like. New Found Glory's Nothing Gold Can Stay is a good example of that. I know that and the It's All About the Girls EP are definitely NFG's worst records, but a lot of the songs on NGCS bring back tons of memories.

I voted for both.
Its still Fall Out Boy at the end of the day so I don't think this "change" matters. Most bands change their sound a bit over the years and they know they will lose some fans for it but they will also gain new ones. So the whole "old" and "new" thing is irrelevant in my mind. I still view them the same. But if you really want to know which albums I perfer it would be the earlier stuff. But then again a lot of songs off of Infinity On High were just as good. UGHH this is still kinda hard. bahaha

Take This To Your Grave is by far one of the best pop-punk albums ever. The lyrics are more raw and angsty, more relatable. The sound overall is so much more organic compared to their other records. However,FUCT,IOH,and FAD all are very great albums too.Especially with FAD,the lyrics are great, though nearly impossible to understand. The music is huge,over-the-top and extremely poppy.(But they do it amazingly well). I really couldnt pick a favorite because all of Fall Out Boys records are so distinct and have different aspects that make each one so enjoyable.Fall Out Boy is one of the few bands that have successfully progressed their sound with each new album, without compromising their lyrical ability.

It's all about if the change is good or bad though. Like Brand New, or Midtown totally changed their sound, and it did nothing but good for them. Fall Out Boy lost a lot of fans because their change in sound was quite sub-par. Folie A Deux is doing an alright job at regaining all the ground they lost, in my personal opinion.

I know this poll is closed but I'm going to add a comment anyway.
I like all of their albums in different ways but all equally.
Old because of their musical style and their stage appearance. Also, Pete did a bit more screaming on those albums.
The new albums because they're really innovative, especially the lyrics. The choruses are extremely catchy. Patrick's musicianship is amazing as well.

Final decision would probably be with the old. A factor being nostalgia too to push old ftw.
