i remember when crowe was supposed to play the sheriff, while christian bale was set to play robin hood, with sienna miller to play marian. that idea sounded a lot better than what it is now. when i think robin hood, i don't think russel crowe.

I don't imagine robin hood as like a scruffy old man. i think of him as more a young man.
bad casting.

It's not really how I would imagine Robin Hood, but I'm sure Crowe can pull it off. Looking forward to the film.

I remember liking the Disney version when I was little...I'm guessing this will be a bit different though. Could be cool.

Hahha. I don't think Ridley Scott found a suitable fox to play the lead.
It was a fox in the Disney version right?

I like Crowe's acting but I too agree that he doesn't necessarily look the part of Robin Hood. Really looking forward to this movie though.

sienna miller got fired from this film because crowe thought she was too young and pretty and made him look bad.
lame.

Crowe was also suppose to originally play Tom Cruise's character in Collateral, thank fucking god that never happened.

kevin costner was good but he didnt even have an accent for some reason! i thought that was kind of lame...even though that movie is one of my all time favorites.
also crowe was supposed to play the parts of robin AND the sherriff at one point. he would have been an awesome sherriff but robin not so much. too old and he looks like maximus from gladiator! scruffy with short hair...
if they were going to have a younger robin hood, heath ledger would have been good.

I'm not the biggest Russell Crowe fan, and the trailer did nothing for me, so my interest in this movie (despite being a big fan of the Robin Hood character and many of his incarnations) pretty much begins and ends with the fact that Alan Doyle from Great Big Sea is in it.

I want to believe this will be a good movie, but everything I've seen and read so far looks so generic.

It's only PG 13 that sucks, I think it will still be a good movie. Russell Crowe I think will play the role well.

2-0. Even if it gets all negative reviews after these, I'm excited and will be seeing this wknd.
The attention to detail is extraordinary, from the dialogue and the storyline to the myriad elements in production design, as the filmmakers create a convincing, raw, unjust and dangerous world - England as it might have been almost 1,000 years ago
Scale, spectacle and heart make Ridley Scott's Robin Hood a heart-pumping and satisfying tale, with Russell Crowe etching his initials on Robin's bow as surely as he left them on Maximus' sword in Gladiator

I really want to see this, but for me, Prince of Theives was my favorite Robin Hood movie. I really enjoy Kevin Costner, but Cary Elwes said it best, "Unlike other Robin Hoods, I can speak with a British accent.".

I'll still go see it for sure, but the PG-13 rating totally turns me off.

Braveheart type violence is a little over the top for these types of movies. They dont have to show the aftermath from every hit with a sword/axe/arrow.

Who saw it? I didn't. Debating on making it a second half of a double feature, but it's so damn long.
i saw it, not very good. pretty cliched and some of the dialogue was cringe worthy.
