I made a thread about this a whiiiile ago in entertainment, i think, expressing my love for the ESPN schedule, throughout the afternoon. As of late, its been bad because NFL Films has interrupted it, but oh well. Usually i'm watching 1st and 10(only because of Woody Paige, he makes that show work), then NFL Live, Jim Rome(sometimes, i may switch around then), ATH and PTI, followed by sportscenter, then the big finish of pti. Its seriously a sports fan dream haha.

Whenver Norm Chad is in, its not bad, he has a decent sense of humor. Lebatard is worthless though. Imagine being Tony's daughter, I remember he used to write about her in his columns.

The only thing worse than Lebatard is Jay Marrioti. He brings down Around The Horn too, in my opinion.

I don't think Mariotti is that bad, I mean he's definitely one of my least favorites on ATH, but Plaschke is the absolute worst. He annoys the hell out of me.

yeah, i respect plaschke for the way he always seems to make an argument for something nobody else will touch ..but his whole moral agenda gets tired. In a perfect world for me, they'd just have Paige, Colishaw (sp?), Michael Smith, and Bob Ryan all the time. I think they generally bring the best combination of debate and entertainment value to the show.

I like your line-up, but I'd have it be Cowlishaw, J.A. Adande, Paige, and Bob Ryan. Nothing against Michael Smith, I like him, but Adande has got to be on the show. One of us should email him and ask if he can give AP a shoutout next time he visits the lounge.

Dream line up: Tim "Tomcat" Cowlishaw, Jay Mariotti, Woody Paige and Michael Smith. They bring the meat. Shame on Bill Plaschke for trying to be funny every show and never pulling it off.

I dislike Bob Ryan sometimes, the way he talks just gets to me. Paige always does funny things, like the money exchange with Tony to cheat the game and win. That was the highlight.

Did you see the one awhile back when Mariotti and Paige were both in New York, and Paige was eliminated before the showdown while Mariotti moved on, and while Jay was talking you could see Woody lurking in the background? That was great.

My top 4 for Around the Horn would be Mariotti, Paige, Cowlishaw, and Adande. They seem to be the only ones who have compelling arguments. On PTI, if it's not Tony and Mike, I really hate it. Dan LeBetard is annoying, Bob Ryan might be worse. Don't count out Blackistone with his crazy-ass PIMP glasses. :D

Oh, by the way..does anyone else wanna strangle Skip Bayless until he dies or bleeds to death (whichever comes first)? The guy is ENDLESSLY annoying. I can't stand watching him on Cold Pizza.

so you read the Chicago-Sun Times, Dallas Morning News, Denver Post, L.A Times AND the Boston Globe?

I know firsthand that Ryan, Smith, and McMullen are excellent journalists because of the Globe ..but I have no idea about the rest of them because I've never read their columns. Their ATI appearances don't count either because thats not journalism in the slightest bit.

i've read all those papers. i don't read them religiously but when something happens in those markets i tend to peruse their papers to see what the local take on the story is.

I'll agee with you there, because he writes some amazing columns.

But, I'd have to put Paige in my line-up, he has made a career out of being a goofball on that show, yet he is still respected anyway. And his arguments are usually good, every once and a while he makes a great point.
I love Adande too, he's golden on that show.

Haha, there was a COld Pizza thread in the entertainment forum a while back, I think it was about 3 comments on the show, and about 50 about how much everyone hates Skip. It's great for Woody though, because it makes him even more dominant.

I especially love watching Skip try to be funny, and fail miserably.

so yeah

i've read all those papers. i don't read them religiously but when something happens in those markets i tend to peruse their papers to see what the local take on the story is.

i'm not aware of any of their columns besides the one's who have wrote for the globe - ryan, smith, macmullen. I'm just hesitant to judge the journalistic ability of annoying personalities like Mariotti and Plaschke because some good journalists tend to look like asses on TV ( Mike Lupica comes to mind) but write excellent columns. Ryan certainly has the lengthiest and best resume of any of them though.

Max Kellerman knows his Boxing, he's a shithead when it comes to anything else. He talks way too loud. Tony "Stat Boy" Reali is the best, I love when he corrects them on everything. A simple correction and a Mute and he owns them. Hahhaha. And yes, the Chalkboard is very underrated.

What's the name of that Black Journalist from St. Louis? The fat one. I forgot his name..
