Everytime i go to borders..I skim through it....and i get angry after I read it, a typical (I hate the youth rant) usually transpires after I read it.

I do this exact same thing.

I used to, years ago. Now they never feature bands that interest me too much.
Plus, I can just get my music news for free here.

I'm more of a fan of AMP, but AP Magazine has The Gaslight Anthem on its cover this month, so that's good. I'll usually skim through it and AMP, but the only magazine subscription I have is Rolling Stone.

yes, but most of the time i dont like the cover bands. i enjoy reading the articles though.

You mean Gaslight, right?
I'm not a fan.

no... but if a band i like is on the cover then I might buy an issue.

I had one throughout high school. I'd go to Warped and you could get one for like $5. Now I just read everything I'd need to know on the internet

i used to. just ran out a handful of months ago. it used to be good, or alternately, i used to like the bands they featured more a few years ago. plus, their layout has just gotten ridiculous, so it's not even aesthetically pleasing. sad.

The album reviews are either great or really poopy. It's like they have some good writers and some bad. And if Bring Me the Horizon is on the cover again I will puke.

Used to.
I do, but I wish I didn't. I probably won't renew.

Sadly, yes. It came with my Anthony Green pre-order. Definitely not renewing though, this magazine has gone a long way downhill since I first started reading it in high school.

i did the 12$ for 12 months thingy. pretty upset so far because it has been nothing but shit bands..Forever Sickest Kids, Bring the Horizon, etc.
... But luckily they had the Gaslight Anthem, which i enjoyed the piece very much
The Most Anticipated Albums one was enjoyable, and i enjoyed the one with Anthony Green as well.
... oh and i have both covers of the Say Anything issue from december of last year, cause i love them :-)

I do not.
I do, but there are very few parts of the magazine that interest me. I almost never pay attention to the reviews, because they're usually off.

no, that's a shitty magazine.

I stopped getting them, they're such garbage anymore. I did pick up the one with Thursday and the Movielife recently, though.

I'm kind of sick of reading it. A lot of the pages just advertise bands that are more focused on their fashion then their music. oooooops.

Used to. ap.net replaced it. Bought the Anthony Green issue last year, thats it.

04/23/09, 05:46 AM
yeah, have since I was fifteen. I brought a copy with me on my trip I'm on. I read a lot less of it now these days since AP though. I'm sure the only reasons I still subscribe are out of habit and because I just like having a paper form that I could read everywhere, whereas internet isn't everywhere.

I used to, but forgot to renew it, and still haven't. I still enjoy the mag, and there's a few columns in there that I like, but it's not as good as it used to be.

This.
Whenever I'm in Barnes and Noble or wherever sells them, I'll read some of that issue, but I am not a subscriber.

I had one in high school and for about a year or so after but towards the end I was really just thumbing through them so I never renewed....that was like 3 or 4 years ago....doesn't really seem that long for some reason.
Everytime i go to borders..I skim through it....and i get angry after I read it, a typical (I hate the youth rant) usually transpires after I read it.
me too, its definitely not as good as it used to be.

04/24/09, 06:06 PM
No because they aren't worth buying. I either borrow it from the library or check it out at a bookstore. I don't care for many of the bands they cover, think their reviews are garbage, and usually I like a few of their articles an issue so I would never pay for a subscription even though its less than $1 an issue
Same. I just read them at Hastings. Even that is rare though.

Yes but I'm really leaning towards not renewing it though. I'm a bit sick of most of the vastly overrated bands that grace their covers.

I like to file through it every now and then. It's decent as magazines go. But their reviews are a bit strange and, because it is a magazine, it has WAY too many advertisements and WAY too many busy images that i just don't want to burn my retinas out on.

I do have a subscription. I don't like everything they do and a lot of the stuff is just stupid, but it's something to read and pass the time. Also, I got a free year long subscription so I'm not complaining about that.

I'll buy one every once in a while. Mostly just to get pictures to cut out and put on my wall though.

My subscription's ending in August. I need to renew it...
I like Alternative Press. Lately, they've been covering some pretty bad bands imo (FTSK, Bring Me The Horizon), but when they feature bands I like (Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes), it makes up for it.
