IMO The Used's Self titled album is a perfect album.
Their new stuff is not nearly as good and I would like to know of some stuff like their first album.
Any help would be appreciated.

(btw... my first post in the forums...)

the first album is hands down one of the best albums of all time
:]
what exactly would you like to know?

Not to burst your bubble, but the whole "screamo" thing has long since past... the genre has become really clogged with terrible bands, I suggest looking at bands that influenced the Used. I remember the album that got me into screaming was Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come...I am extremely sensitive when it comes to screaming now 7 years later, but that still remains one of my all time favorites...check it out.

Well, I'm not necessarily looking "for the whole 'screamo' thing" per say. I like the screaming for sure, but songs like 'The Taste of Ink,' and 'Buried Myself Alive' and such aren't built on the screams.

I guess I just want some good post-hardcore bands that are more 'punkish' than bands like Silverstein and From First to Last.

But, I did check out some of the songs from that 'Refused' album and I like what I've heard. I'll probably be buying that album soon.

okay, there are still good screamo bands out there. its the ones that are just coming along that give screamo a bad name. the genre of the music hardly matters. half the time they just make shit up, i mean come on crunk? post hardcore? and when they combine two genres to make one, those are a load of bullshit. yes, refused is goood, but they were also formed before i was born. which means i was born into this generation of music, where this i what i listen to and couldnt care less if its not good quality music. but to me it is.

...? what? Screamo is stuff like 'Circle Takes the Square' and stuff like that. The Used is NOT screamo. None of these new mainstream bands are. Also, Crunk and Post-Hardcore are both REAL genres. Combining genres and taking creative steps like that is how we got rock in the first place. And isn't quality the whole point? No one wants to listen to shit.

there is no quality in music anymore. especaially bands that are thrown together for the hell of it. bands make albums just to make them. of course there are a some exceptions to this

The Used's self titled album was raw and wonderful!
I agree with the person who said check out some of the bands that influenced The Used.
A portion of bands lately arn't really making their music, they're making music they think
the public will like. Yeah, I'd say stick to some older stuff.
Also try to find some of The used's older B-sides, they're are fantastic!

Finch's album "What It Is To Burn" is really good, check that out.

I know. The newer bands fail in comparison. I do have the Maybe Momories album and their demo's and stuff. They were sooo good and it all went downhill.

I will check it out. I sure hope its good.

I've also been listening to alot of Glassjaw lately and have satisfied my cravings for now...

This

Seriously, the genre is saturated with A Skylit Drive-type bands, I'd rather avoid the genre now if I were you. The Used's S/T remains the pinnacle of the genre. Stick with the screamo/post hardcore bands from that era.

Also seconding Finch. I lived on that album in high school.

Check out Fugazi and Thursday. Not exactly the same, but definitely some solid stuff.
