14-10 is not a bad record.

woo...that is great for the Giants.
it's about time they made a move. you knew it was coming, but it seemed like they were taking forever. this is definitely a good move for them.

You should never look at record when judging a pitcher.
however, could be a nice pick-up for the giants. He'll probably give them around 200 innings with a nice K/BB rate and probably an ERA+ right around 100.

i hate to see matty mo go, but he's gotten progressivly worse each year.

damn dude, he was a cardinal for a while, sad to see him part to a team I despise.

not a bad 3rd starter for them.
with bonds back for a full season the giants will probably walk away with that division by june.

Lowry is the key to the Giant's success. They need a 15 win, around 3.00 ERA from him to step into that #2 slot in the rotation.

I wouldn't lock them in just yet. The Pads, Dodgers, and even D-backs have a shot at this still. The west will be like last year with the playoff scenario but without the shitty records.

San Diego got Cameron and Giles, and kept Hoffman...lost loretta though :(

The Giants didnt get any younger though. The race is going to be wide-open again due to mediocrity, most likely.

yeah, and that was my point
but the giants were in the thick of things for awhile WITHOUT Bonds
getting Morris and Bonds being healthy for a full season definitely makes them look like the front runners in my eyes.

yeah, I think it'll either be them or San Diego. I still like San Diego a little more though because of the pen and the addition of Cameron.

eh i dont know how much mike cameron really makes a team better. his career average SUCKS
he'll help in the outfield no doubt, especially if dave roberts comes back to boston for wells.

When you look at it the Giants are a very very good team. Here is my projected starting lineup...
1. Omar Vizquel SS
2. Randy Winn CF
3. Moises Alou RF
4. Barry Bonds LF
5. Ray Durham 2B
6. Pedro Feliz 3B
7. J.T. Snow/ Lance Niekro 1B
8. Mike Matheny C
9. Pitcher
Projected pitching rotation
1. Jason Schmidt
2. Noah Lowry
3. Matt Morris
4. Matt Cain
5. Kevin Correia

very very good is quite an overstatement. i'd say theyre a good NL team though.

the giants biggest problem is pitching, especially the bullpin. Hopefully Benetiz can stay healthy and either they aquire another bullpin pitcher or somebody really surprises us this year like Eyre did last year. It is still hard for me to not pick my giants to win this year the NL west this year, especially if they stay healthy

They have added two good relief pitchers in Tim Worrell and Steve Kline, I guess they have also added Mark Sweeney a nice utility man.

that lineup is old though ..especially at the top w/ alou, vizquel, and bonds. If all three of those guys play 130+ games and produce similar to their career averages ..then they will probably win the division. That's a lot to ask for though.

Those teams were hurt. The dodgers got off to a hot start, but injuries set them back. Injuries set everyone back in the west.

The Giants let Snow go. Niekro takes over now.

If Cameron takes over for Roberts, you'll have close to the same player, but with a better slg.

Why? None of them have had signs of slowing down.

I dunno, Vizquel's average dropped 20 points last year, along with his rbi's, HR's, runs, on-base percentage, slugging, and OPS. Basically he went down in every category ..at the age of 38, that doesnt just look like an off year. Alou missed a few games, but he was also on pace to finish far below his totals from the few seasons before. I don't think anyone knows what to expect from Bonds ..
They have a decent team ...but they certainly cant be considered favorites over San Diego.
