So I have a little bit of a dilema... I am a senior student (highschool) and graduating this year and I have to apply to colleges soon... very soon. My question, should I go away to school and not buy a car (cuz' I'd need the extra money for res.) or stay at home and buy a car? (Then I'd be able to afford it). My course is only two years long so staying at home might not be too bad! Maybe. Anyways any advice would be awesome...

You think that you're too cool for school, but I have a newsflash for you Walter Cronkite... you aren't.

moving away was essential for me. it also matters what you are doing after school. if you will need a car after two years to pursue whatever it would make more sense to just commute and have a reliable car for the future. it matters what is more important and essential to you.

Moving to school will get you laid. A nice car will get you laid. Its really a 50/50 shot here.

I say get out of your parent's house for awhile. Get a job in or close to your school to rack up some money so you can buy a car later when you really need it. And like the guys have been saying, living at school will get you laid. That's all that really matters anyway..

getting outta your house would be awesome...i know it was when i went away to school...

but i know a lot of kids who stayed home, went to school locally, had awesome jobs and saved up a lot and have nice cars and are taking care of themselves nicely...

i dunno...it's not easy being a poor college student...but it is a lot fun lol

Go away! I'm into my second year now and i'm regretting not going away. People seem to have a lot more fun when they live away, as no parents = no rules = more parties = can skip more classes.

This is from my brother's experience, living near home will make it feel like high school. Even if your parents are incredibly easy going, they are still going to nag you about several things. Plus, depending on where you go, you don't need a car. I mean, I go to a college with 2500 people and can still find a ride home and places I need to go.

Move away, its for the best.

I'd say move away, but it kind of depends on where your going to school. If it's some place in the sticks, you might be better off having a car, but like someone said above, it will still feel like high school.

I'm living at home for two years while I get my multimedia degree up here and I pray everyday god will take my life, haha. The thought of the day I sell my car and move to Manhattan to get my graphic design degree is the only reason I get out of bed in the morning.
