The new Unsung EP was supposed to be a present for my friend, but curiously i opened to see how this band was...
The worst hardcore band ive ever come across, it all one big annoying breakdown and so messingly put together
and other thoughts..?

They put on a helliva show. And I enjoy both the EP and Full length.
And they aren't a "hardcore" band.
They are better with two guitarists though.

They're great, considering that josh scogin used to be in norma jean. I was suprised that someone could bring about something decent after coming from such a shitty band.

Just got back from seeing them. One of the best live shows I've seen this year. The guitarist threw an amp across stage in the middle of a song and kept kicking them over later and they did a feedback/instrumental session for a few minutes in the middle of a song. Damn good show.

everyone's right, they're not hardcore. they're meant to be brutal, in your face, just pounding and pulsating. your opinion would change if you wouldve seen them with two guitarists. their live show now isn't anything like it used to be.

Josh Scogin with Norma Jean is better...I can't get into new Norma Jean. the chariot does put on a sweet show, I dunno if anyone remembers the youngblood tour with he is legend showbread as cities burn far-less and bradley hathaway, but that was sick...But I wonder if anybody has the same problem at your school, where every 1/20 kids has that damn chariot hot topic shirt.

I searched, this is the only thread that came up. Sooo how are people feeling the new track? I for one was hoping for them to return to the style used on their first full legnth. Solid song in my opinion though.

The EP is brilliant.
Such a good piece of heavy music. The riffing is fantastic, lyrics outstanding and it's heavy as hell.
It shits all over Everything...
That said Fiance will own both.

The EP is just so much more effective. The album is over feedbacked and by track 3/4 any effect of brutallity is lost on me.
The re-worked versions of the songs are a lot more effective too. Before there was.... is incredible on the EP version.
The new song They Faced Each Other is pretty awesome.

I actually wonder if they still sell it on tour considering Josh is the only remaining member of the version of the band on the dvd. I think that the DVD is actually on the full length if you don't automatically open it into winamp or itunes, and goto my computer and right click to "explore" the disc. Should be an .mov file.

i saw them with two guitarists live and it was good. but they still suck as a band.
Please, clarify this statement for me. I've never understood how a band can put on a performance that's deemed entertaining to the individual, but then deem the entity that performed as shitty, sucky, etc.

Current hardcore, This Is Hell, Comeback Kid, Bane, Betrayed, Righeous Jams, Have Heart, Guns Up! etc.
Those bands are merely the proprietors of the posi-core, noticeable bass tones, fast 3 chord riffs, and a Bridge Nine/edge culture originally found in NY and New England. Just because they carry on an 80s style of hardcore doesn't mean genres don't expand boundaries. Granted, maybe they're carrying on a purist style, but the "don't mix my metal/thrash with hardcore" attitude is kind of lame to witness. Can there be no hybrids such as metalcore? Do you have to have a crew to be hardcore? There's so many split offs and variants, all the pegging bands as white or black is just kind of irritating and mind boggling. Will you ever see The Chariot playing with Bane, Sick of It All, or Integrity, probably not, but you probably won't see them player with Slayer, or some Swedish death metal band. Almost everything nowadays is an amalgamation of different sub genres.

the only real difference is the guitar feedback and the drumming. the vocals are identical. a musically uneductaed person would call the chariot more "grindcore" than norma jean but that wouldn't be correct. the chariot = norma jean on steroids
i have seen both bands live and use to own copies of "bless the martyr..." and "this title is way too long to type, much less memorize.." i have never listened to anything after "bless the martyr.." so that may be why you disagree with my point.
