The last thing I bought wasn't even really a music cd, but the AFS - Guide to Touring DVD. Hmm, it's a dead time of year for releases; at least imo.
No, but since I'm insanely bored at work here's a list of stuff I'm getting tomorrow. I know no one cares, but this will kill about 3 minutes.
- 40 year old virgin- Not as funny as wedding crashers, but the chest hair part alone is worth the money
- Puddle cruisers- first movie that the super trooper clan made. it was finally released on dvd last week.
- every Explosions in the Sky release. I finally saw Friday Night Lights last week and was amazed with the music. According to the movie bio, the band helped compose most of the soundtrack. I've never heard this band before and I'm pissed I haven't until now. simply amazing.
- Movie life's This time next year. I've lost this album about as many times as I have Weezer's blue album. so, I will buy it again, for about the 7th time. dont tell me to burn it b/c its good enough of an album that deserves the whole product.
stay in school, dont ever get a job.

EITS is amazing, they did most of the soundtrack...all the instrumental stuff is them.

How is it compared to the other two? I have the feeling I would've appreciated Club Dread a lot more if I hadn't seen Super Troopers first.

this guy knows what's up. not only is the 40 year old virgin much funnier than the wedding crashers (and any other movie this year), it's actually an all around great movie. the american film institute just named it on their annual top ten list. sin city's pretty fucking awesome as well, but i already bought the bare bones edition

as for when wedding crashers is being released it may work out just fine to release it after christmas. Im sure they would of liked to put it out before but you have to wait a certain time period after it leaves theatres to release it on DVD.

that cd was one of the worst, most over-hyped records of the year.
in my opinion, at least.

Not really, they don't have to wait any amount of time. However, the way the system currently works, there is usually a four-to-six month wait between being released in theatres and being released on video. That window has been shrinking in recent years... I remember when Toy Story was released on video a full year after coming out in theatres. The only films that seem to do that anymore are Christmas films (such as The Polar Express).
It's more likely that Wedding Crashers is being released after Christmas because there are simply too many other films being released in the weeks beforehand, such as the aforementioned 40 Year Old Virgin. The point about the gift cards is also very true. Retail stores love selling gift cards because they're guaranteed sales. And much of the time, people are looking to unload those gift cards as quickly as they can. The DVD for Into the Blue is being released on Monday, December 26th to cash in on this phenom. If it's on sale and the only new DVD in stores that day, people will be more likely to pick it up.

But Wedding Crahsers came out in Theatres July 15th and 40 Year Old Virgin came out August 19th, so that explanation does not hold true.
