Soaring on the wings of impulse
The penguin lept to fly.
"I'll change the laws," he said aloud,
"Of aerodynamics and gravity."

"If I just think and wish enough
I know I'll reach the sky."
So, flippers outstretched and beady eyes shut,
He plunged into the sea.

Five minutes passed, a head emerged,
A passing thought, "I'll die."
A salty drop, rejection of truth,
He scaled the cliff in agony.

Not bad. I wrote a couple poems years ago dealing with penguins and flight. Anyway, I digress - the idea in this is a good one, though it's a bit unoriginal. The language is also a bit more plain than what I'm used to seeing from you. There's really nothing catching my attention or wowing me. But not every poem needs to do this, so I'm not going to belabor that point.
