So far, this is the trades being explored...
Artest to the Kings for Peja. Peja's contract comes off the books at year's end.
Artest to the Grizzlies for Battier and a player to fill in the other end of the salary.
my personal favorite. Artest to the Hawks for Harrington, who the Hawks fear is going to bolt at seasons end.
most interesting. Artest to the Cavs...with a few different options to get in return. Larry Hughes, Zyundras, Gooden...
Artest to the Knicks? The only way he's going to the Knicks is if they part ways with some of their young talent. Artest for Q Rich and Channing or Nate.
Bird says he is going to fulfill Artest's request, due to the fact that he knows the problems this could cause. Austin Croshere will also be in on whatever deal is made.
On a much smaller note, it looks like Flip Murray is on his way out of Seattle and flipping his way into Denver.

I suppose it's better late than never if he ends up with the Knicks.

I think the Cavs and Knicks deals won't work because the Knicks do not have a roster that fits the Pacers needs and the Pacers won't trade inside their division. I like any of the other 3 deals though, with preference on the Grizzlies one because Battier is perfect for the Pacers.

yeah, i dont see the cavs thing happening either. but he said he'd be willing to come off the bench behind lebron. i think the pacers are going to do the best to accomodate him. i like the battier trade too. i think battier is vastly underrated.

he wants to play in NY,
NY can use a good SF
hmmmmm
I think trading with the Kings would be smartest for Indy. Peja is having a disappointing year, and he needs a fresh start. If the Pacers got Peja, that backcourt with Jasikevicius would be very interesting.

NY needs a lot of help, at this point he's just one piece of the puzzle. And the sooner they realize that Isiah Thomas should not have any influence in any basketball organization the better.
The Knicks are a team who are very unstable right now. I don't think Artest is the kind of guy who would solve their problems.

i wouldnt see the bucks happening. they just signed bobby simmons over the summer. i dont think artest would fit in well there. artest would no doubt make them better, but they dont have much to give in return in terms of players they'd be willing to part with.

With all the crap he's done recently I'm starting to forget that he was once a great player who won championships.

I don't think Isiah is the only problem in NY. It seems that teams can't really win with Steph at the point.

if they traded him to the knicks, it would probably be for malik rose and someone else to fill the salary. i doubt the cavs give up Big Z or Larry Hughes. i dont see the other trades working

True but he's certainly not making things any better. With the exception of bringing in Larry Brown I can't say I've really liked a single decision he's made.

haha thank God. I'm down with the Grizzlies and Kings trades, leaning more towards Battier cause he will be a better fit in the Pacers system. Knicks trade could be likely, but I doubt it, put Artest in the West. There is no way in hell they trade him to Cleveland.
Why the hate on Croshere? hes solid off the bench

i found this interesting...
From David Locke's blog:
Yesterday afternoon on the post-game show I was talking about Flip Murray's +/-. In no way is the issue confronting the Sonics a one man issue, but if you feel the need to zero in to problem number 1 the replacement of AD with Flip Murray is a pretty good spot to start.
In yesterday's game when Flip was having a "good game" the Sonics finished -8 when he was on the floor. What is more revealing is he was on the floor in the final 4 minutes when the Sups went on that irrelevant run to cut the lead down. He earned a +5 for that.
Therefore, in the moments the game was decided Flip was a -13 in 20 minutes. That is brutal.
In 109 minutes this season he is -82. In comparison during the entire season last year AD was a +208.
Let's extrapolate this a bit. AD played in 75 games last season. Therefore, he averaged a +2.8 per game. Flip Murray has played 6 games this season and is -82 for an average of -13.7 points per game.
Isolating this substitution change the Sonics seem to be -16.5 points worse per game all because of one change in the rotation.
This leaves us without an explanation for the 6 games Flip didn't play when the team went 3-3.
Honestly, their is something wrong with this breakdown, but regardless it tells a story. I can't imagine the story is that grotesque, but it might be a large part of the answer to what is wrong.

This Artest shit will not distract the Pacers, they always rise in the face of adversity. Last year they did it, and this year they are stronger than that. Fuck Ron Artest, have fun play for a shitty team like New York and Sacramento. Pacers do not need you, you motherfuckin backstabber, after all the team and city have done for you, and you do this, I don't want your ass on my team. Please trade him for Battier, he is exactly what we need.

No, I'm just over it, I mean at first I was sad, but now I'm just pissed off. I still love the Pacers and just like JO said today "I'm not going to answer any more questions about Ron Artest. Ron doesn't want to be here, so Ron doesn't matter anymore." JO is the leader, the heart and soul. Pacers are still going to have a great year.

Problem is Ronnie is pretty adamant in saying he does not want to go to a Western Conference team and that he would be pissed and be peace out when is contract is up. This may lead to a lot of the western conference teams to be cautious because that is basically turning up Ron's crazy meter a couple notches.

i honestly think the pacers could fall apart...COULD. players have questioned JO's leadership. pacers will probably finish third or fourth in the east this year now. i hope artest comes to atlanta, he'd fit in perfectly here.

22, 11 and 2.5 blocks? Sounds like one of the best power players in basketball to me. The sooner they unload him, the better off for the Pacers. Trade him to the Hawks or the Grizz or the Kings, just get him out of here. Or shit, even trade him to the Knicks if they can get Frye and someone else like Ariza out of them. This is a situation where it's addition by subtraction, and I'm with Drew. I used to love the guy, but I hate his guts now. We showed nothing but loyalty and he stabbed us in the back.
