Our PSAT scores came in today, and I was pretty excited. I got a 226, so I should be set for National Merit. The only problem is, somehow they didn't record all my information (like I'm a US citizen, in my junior year and whatnot) and so they said I'm not eligible for NM. There's an address that looks like it's for sending corrections in to, so hopefully this will work out, but does anybody have any experience with something like this? Is College Board pretty good about getting this fixed, or am I screwed?

fight for it son. Don't let them shaft you. You have the brains, right? So why not get the credit, recognition, and respect you deserve. Talk to your guidance counselor and all.

I'm not sure how the new PSAT works with the new fandangled SAT. What would your 226 correlate to in the old one? What is the PSAT out of?

I did talk to one of the counselors, and it seems like this should work out. He said they were very helpful, and even more so when they heard my score...

The PSAT is out of 240. I don't think they changed too much on it even though the SAT added the essay and all. A 226 is supposed to correspond with about a 2260 on the SAT, give or take a hundred or two, so hopefully I can pull that off as well. Haha, and thanks for the encouragement.

Yeah, I got taken to the house on the writing section when I took the PSAT's, thankfully my SAT didn't include that section. Good luck with NM

My PSAT score came in this week but I have to wait until Friday or maybe even Monday because my Counselar has to go to each class and hand them out in a Guidance Class we have once every other week. I'm in his very last class, so I get it last. Ugh.

Yeah...you could call me a nerd. This was actually my fourth time taking the test, and I only improved one point from last year, if that gives you a clue about anything.

And to the others waiting for your scores, good luck!

four times??/ I took mine twice and did crap on both. SATs were never my good thing.

what do you plan on doing for the SATs though? Colleges will know every time you take the exam so you can't hide it and it doesn't necessarily look great if you take it more than 2 times.

I believe I missed one or two on writing, one on math and three in verbal, and omitted none. 'All or nothing' was my plan.

Well, the gifted/talented teacher at my high school gets junior high students to take the PSAT as practice, but it doesn't count until your junior year and won't hurt your standing. I'm planning on taking the SAT at the end of this year, and unless I really bomb it, I'll just take it once. I took the ACT at the end of the last year and did well, so with that and my PSAT I should be fine.

Has anybody else gotten scores in?

richter915

good depends on the person...good depends on where you want to go in life.

what's your definition of good?

Well, I don't know..Like, scores on the SAT that colleges think is a "good score". If that makes sense.

there was a Physics exam the day where Eid but that's not allowed because the university isn't supposed to give an exam on any major religious holiday. There're over 1000 Muslim students enrolled at my school so we have a large say in that ya know? So anyhow, we all petitioned and they scheduled a make up exam. I opted to take the exam the same night as Eid cause the only real thing I needed to do was go back home to pray. So I did that, came back to school, took the exam...and got a 96 (which is so much better than most of the class it's insane)...so the other Muslim students take the exam on the makeup night which was a week later. So they're taking the exam and someone pulls the fire alarm mid-exam. That causes even more hell to break loose cause everyone starts exchanging answers and shit. It was a huge mess...but it's kinda sad how low some people stoop.

I got a 63 critical reading, 48 in math and 57 on the writing(?) for the PSAT. The math part is what killed me, I didn't have enough time for the last 7 questions.

I think I had a 78 in the first (reading or verbal, I don't remember which), 77 in math and then a 71.

Lewiston, Idaho sucks man, i am sorry you have to live in that shit hole.

I got:
Critical Reading: 56
Math: 45
Writing Skills: 50

I guess it's not too bad for a Sophomore. I'm really hoping to do well in Junior year. Math killed me, too. I have a 96 average in Math too so I don't know how I messed up.

Hahaha that's pretty close to right, but from what I've seen not completely. Our girls basketball teams > every other team that I've seen. I'm just always glad though that I don't live in Nezperce or Kamiah or some other little place where everyone's related.

Well, compared to you, I did horrible, but compared to a lot of the kids in my school, I did alright I guess. 58 in Reading. I've always hated that part in any test I have ever had to take. 64 in Math. 65 in Writing. I heard that the SATS are easier than the PSATS, and if they are, I should be fine, but I don't know if I believe that.

Four times? Dang... I took it once. Don't worry about it; I got that National Merit deal since I got like a 224, 228, or something like that. It's gotten me nothing. I'm getting nothing to sweat over. If you can get a 226 you can get better money elsewhere. The main reason to get it is so that you can get full rides to state schools. For example, lots of schools like Texas, Texas A & M, and Oklahoma grant you automatic full rides.

mentch_man
01/15/06, 01:14 AM
Texas A&M gives full rides for National Merit? I'm thinking about aerospace engineering, and they're supposed to be pretty good in that. I'll have to look into that more.
