I doubt it...not really mass media marketable in my opinion. But if it's true then congrats, they do deserve more success.

That would be awesome. I didn't know they were talking to bigger labels.
That would be great.
They deserve it.

I wonder what good it would do them though. I suppose there would be more exposure with a bigger marketing budget and possible radio. Ferret seems to have taken care of them though(maybe not in radio exposure). Unless, Ferret wants the money that Atlantic would fork over for the band. I don't know, I guess I wouldn't understand completly unless I was them or their manager/lawyer.

Here is where I got my info from:
Official press release:
Every Time I Die wins the hearts of many, but this takes the cake – their August 26th Ferret release "Gutter Phenomenon" is crowned Album Of The Year – in Revolver Magazine. The issue hits streets on Dec 4, 2005. Tune in to MTV2 on December 3rd at 10 PM for Headbangers Ball/Revolver Magazines' countdown of the Top Videos of 2005 as voted by the viewers to see the ETID video for "Kill The Music," featuring Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs).
Fast and Furious in 2005, ETID wraps their year with a massive sold-out European Tour With My Chemical Romance plus, a Holiday Benefit Show in Buffalo NY. And, re-inks a recording deal with Ferret Music.
"Ferret Music is their home," states Ferret Music CEO Carl Seversen. "We get them and their music and we do what's right for the band."
Lyrical pranksters Every Time I Die made their mark with the release of Gutter Phenomenon (2005 Ferret Music); wowing audiences with their unparalleled live performance as well as their never ending and always evolving wacky hijinx; even lassoing their silent sixth member Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs) to do a cameo in the video for the track "Kill the Music."
The band have toured all summer on the Sounds Of the Underground then went on to their headline run with High On Fire, then a quick tour with label mates A Life Once Lost, Haste the Day and It Dies Today; finalizing the year with a double shot of mayhem for a monumental UK tour with My Chemical Romance. ETID also recorded a special one time appearance for the BBC sessions on Halloween. For BBC Radio 'The Lock Up,' the biggest rating specialty show on BBC Radio 1 and pulls approx. 750,000 listeners.
Band guitarist Jordan Buckley says, "We are cold, tired and homesick, but we couldn't be happier to be in Europe playing with My Chemical Romance and our new friends in The Drive By, for so many excited, screaming, soon-to-be ETID fans. The shows are surely some of the biggest and best we have ever played, and we expect things to only get better as we head to Australia in a couple weeks. It is true that December will be spent at home, but look for the non-stop touring to pick back up in January with some massive US tours that we can't quite talk about just yet.
ETID will then go directly from the UK to do a headline tour of Australia to return home for the holidays to spread mayhem and good at The 1st annual ETID/Toys for Tots Christmas blowout w/ an all Buffalo band bill including Dead Hearts and a special guest to be announced. This will be $5 ticket if you bring a toy for the cause, $10 ticket otherwise.

i'm not sure atlantic would be the best home for them, i think they are great on ferret. some bands benefit from the switch to a major (some majors make better matches than others). i dont think etid woudl benefit from a jump to a major though. awesome band =).

Not true. If that were though, why would major labels want Dillinger Escape Plan as well? They are less marketable than ETID.
If directed towards the right audience, ETID could sell A LOT of records.
nehhh i was kinda hoping they would stay on ferret.
ferret is losing all their good bands.
at least ETID will get to join PTW =D

I don't care if they get signed to a major label or get on TRL. My love for Every Time I Die is unconditional. I'd love to see them on TRL but I don't think the MTV audience could handle them.

...that HATES Gutter Pheneomenon???
I don't want to sound really elitist or anything but it is SO hideously samey and generic.
I saw ETID live back in August and they were still awesome but when I saw them last month again, here in the UK, with MCR, I just found them cringeworthy.

Hot Damn! is top 5 material all time for me. And one of the best hardcore albums ever. MCR is a good band and talented but they use to go on tour with Dillinger, and you cant compare. its good to get exsposure in a different country but they have just changed alot. Gutter Phen. kinda sucked.

This is one band that will most definitely not release a very good record on a major. I hope I'll be proven wrong. This band is overrated anyways.

them and the higher is what i've been hearing.
yeah unfortunatly the higher.. Last record was crap, sounds like the click five. ETID are too big for ferret.. This is just a natural progression. Anyone else find it funny that like 2 years ago all the bands on here were all indie, except Jimmy Eat World and Green Day. Now it seems like every other post says sony, or geffen, or atlantic. Just something I noticed.

thats awful, worse than awful, they should just break up, at least that way they could go out with some dignity instead of just looking like every other band that failed thanks to a major label, starting line, saves the day, less than jake, I can go on, this is the worst day ever

I really liked Gutter Phenomenon. It was a lot different than their previous albums, but it was a step in a really cool direction, too. It added that whole "badass" sense. I like the vocal style, too.

There are plenty of bands that have benefited from being on a major. If my favorite band signed to a major, I'd be happy for them. ETID is a band that progresses. People will say their older material is good, vice versa. Honestly, believe what you want.
Matt Heafy of Trivium made a great point in one interview. Kids need to stop being so close minded. Be happy that your band is going to get bigger. That more people are going to hear about them. Don't think you are special because you heard of them before they got big.
They aren't making music for "you".

Personally, I have no problem with a band signing to a major and am happy for certain bands when they do. However, there are a lot of bands that fail from being on a major label. It just seems like it would be a little soon for a band like The Higher to jump ship and I can't really see how a major label would benefit from having Every Time I Die. While they are certainly trendy, I wouldn't say they are necissarily "radio friendly".
Haha, for the TRL fans, I would laugh my ass off if ETID did a performance on that show.
It'd be freaking hilarious.
I'd liek to see Floater done in front of trl and see their faces when they scream:
"To My Mistress The BRIDGE!"

If they can make it to #1, why can't ETID?

I can't see The Higher either. Not because it is too soon, I just don't think they'd last.

They won't be making music for them either, they'll be making music for a label. I don't have a problem with major labels in themselves, when you have a band like coldplay or bruce springstein or U2 where no matter what album they put out will go platinum and everyone will rave about. I do however have a problem with the fact that people seem to ignore the fact that the "experimenting" and "maturing" everyone seems to rave about when a band signs to a major label is rarely the bands own doing. If nothing else, just look at the evidence, its everywhere, the starting line breaking with their label already, michelle branch tearing apart maverick, and do you think saves the day, less than jake, and midtown liked falling off harder than Mr. Big ?? Imagine your band opening for bands that learned to play music BECAUSE of your first CD and then think about all the great things major labels do for a band. I have no problem with a band making a lot of money and I was hardly the first person to hear about any band, but I am not afraid at all to say what I think a major label will do to every time i die. can anybody say staind? I'm sick of people being afraid to say that a band they like dissapointed them, if EtiDs next cd shreds, I'll love it, if it sounds like it was produced by Scott Stapp just to get more airplay, I'll be happy i'm evil and downloaded it before I bought it
