The FPS I think is the best and the FPS that's my favourite are two completely different things. My faourites are:
Red Faction 1 (great single player)
Half-life
Quake
Dark Forces 1+2

The best is:
Half-life

The most overated ones are:
Halo
Halo 2
Doom 3
Quake 2,3,4
Killzone

Call of Duty was pretty sick, I liked Battlefield: Vietnam alot too.

i play ut 03 all the time, the original unreal was sick, 99% because of the online play. the original half life was amazing...halo is awesome, and ut2007 looks extremely promising.

Yea, I don't see why it's not mentioned all that much. It's the only 1st person shooter I play on a regular basis.

i used to play it online all the time, but then again after that i got sick of pc games and then just concentrated on console games. i probably should buy it on xbox or something

I haven't played Goldeneye in so long. I never realized how the graphics were until just now, still a sweet game.

my favorite is either Half-Life 2 or Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

there was also this game Blood that came out ages ago. it was a pretty solid FPS.

Goldeneye had the best singleplayer and best level design of any console FPS, hands down.

For PC, Counterstrike is unstoppable in the multiplayer department.

in terms of multiplayer, i have to go with goldeneye. me and my friends would play that thing for forever. for single player i have to go with half-life 2, it is amazing in every single part.

HL2, CS (Particularly patch 1.3, but Source is still good) and Battlefield 2 has really been rocking lately. Besides that FPS don't really do much for me, although I played an INSANE amount of CS in my life.

Half Life 2, FarCry are my favorites now for single player

Battlefield 2, Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike-Source are my favorites for multi player.

Halo 2 is the most overrated.

the Half-Lifes are good and Chronicles of Riddick is damn good.

The Dark Forces: Jedi Knight Series is up there as well.

Counter-strike, end of story. Anyone that says Halo needs to gtfo because those games suck. In fact, console FPS in general suck. Why use 2 sticks when you can use a mouse?

favourite one for me is Unreal Tournament.

i played it since it came out constantly for like until ut2003 came out, then the community went to shit so i stopped playing. i fucking loved that game though, i was thinking about it the other day, i actually miss it.

im not sure why everyone hates halo now. the whole "everybody loves it so ill be different" thing i guess.
anyway, half life 2 had a great single player, halo 2 IMO has the best multiplayer, just not a big fan of matchmaking on live, id like to pick the game/map i play.

I never really liked Halo. I got Halo 2 with my Xbox, and I played one round online and thought it was garbage.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect has been on my Xbox so much more than that.

I don't really play FPS anyway.

Oh man, too many fond memories of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark... Same with Timesplitters 3... WAY too underrated game.
