Yeah, Chino seriously botched that appearance. I thought I'd be impressed with the duo, but Chino seriously botched what could've been an otherwise amazing cameo. His voice just clashes with the sounds Thrice play. Chino's singing voice seems to fit only with the Deftones and with the electronic-rock of Team Sleep. Everywhere else I've heard him sing...he screws it up. But he is an incredible singer when it comes to the Deftones.

that friend you speak of, must be me, you bitch. this is definately an offnight. ive seen em 3 times and have been amazed at his performance. you should especially check out the live in hawaii deftones dvd, chino is incredible in it. definately not his typical live vocal. he must have been drunk off his ass.

ill also add that i think chino doesnt work well with guest vocals. mainly because its not to the deftones' songs. chinos voice just only works with the deftones. ive heard a few other guest spots, and they are subpar as well. ps i love chino.

The BOTTEM line is that Chino didn't sound good live. He should just stick to singing to his own songs instead of butchering other peoples songs. And to tell you the truth, I haven't seen The Deftones live but I have seen Team Sleep and I personally think Dustin's vocals are much better than Chino's live. Just my opinion though.

I was at this show it was a good show, cept everybody was a korn or system of a down fan which got really annoying...thrice was by far the best and I would have to say, Chino tanked it...but Stare at the Sun acoustic like always, with a string quartet like always was amazing.

your opinion doesnt matter if you havent seen deftones.
team sleep has a whole lot more crooning and weird melodies than the deftones. its an entirely different project, given a few songs. he didnt butcher thrices track, he just made it an off-track.

i saw the webcast. it was a cool surprise but chino... hmm.. i think dustin's a lot better at singing. or maybe that was just chino's style or something. but yeah. thrice's performance was awesome.

You are acting like he came out on purpose and fucked up (in your opinion, I think it sounded fine) the song. He was probably asked by Dustin to come out and add to the song and without practice that could be a problem. I bet they'll get it down because I'm sure they'll be doing something similar on Taste of Chaos.
