this is not me getting infractions and whining about them, but just being curious as to how they work. from what ive observed, apparently certain milestone numbers of infraction points get you bans of ascending length? is this true, and if so what are the milestones? also, how do you find out how many you have if you do not use the email you used to sign up with AP? ive probably collected some for being a little more, lets say outspoken, on the boards since march mayhem began, and its led me to wonder.

thanks :-)

I would appreciate it if someone could inform me how to go about getting this account merged with my old one. I PM'ed a staff member awhile back and they never replied. My old one is still banned.. and some points have yet to expire since like December.

I promise I'll be nice. (And I've been a loyal visitor since '03 :-()

once you recieve 5 infraction points you are banned for whatever length of time is written to you. you will recieve a private message from an AP bot, explaining why you were given infraction points and how many you have recieved. my advice do not post rude things back to those who post rude things to you, for some reason i get the infraction points and they do not. and im sick of the B.S

That's not right at all. You only get banned once you go over fifteen. You get unbanned once you drop back below fifteen, once some expire.

are there also staff discretion bans that are given regardless of infraction points, or are bans always predicated on that sort of thing?

ive never gotten a PM notifying me of infraction points, haha. guess i still dont have any.

We can still ban people the "old way" through the other system, for whatever time we feel like, but I don't think anyone ever does.

But staffers can decide how many points and how long, although there are a few 'commonly used' 'presets,' if you will, with whatever number of points and time.

You get a PM if you get them, and an ugly bar at the top of your userCP page if you have some.

How long does a 5-point infraction take, generally? It's been close to 5 months.. :-(

Depends what it's for. 1,6, or 12 would be the most common.

Insulting someone.. I guess I'll just have to wait the month or so.

What exactly are the infractions given for? Is there a set standard or is it just staff discretion? Do you have to break a rule to be given an infraction?
