Anyone here ever been on a "break" from their significant other? How did it work out? How long did it last?

Nothing will ever be the same after a "break" and if it was a break because the relationship sucked, it will still suck after the break. I highly suggest moving on.

i've done breaks before and ended up with the person again...actually i've done it a couple times over the past three years with the same guy...and now we're together

The only time I ever went on a break, its because I wanted to dump him, but he cried and I felt bad. We never got back together.

My girlfriend and I are on a break now. It's very awkward and annoying. I have fucked up in the past, and it all seemed to catch up to her and now she wants to be on a break. It looks like its headed for the worst.

Im in the exact same position man. I realize how badly i fucked up. You just got to prove to her that things are going to be better. That things are gonna change for a better. Its going to be really hard for her to trust that it will be better but once she does it will be good again. Me and my girlfriend were together for like 1 and a half years and she finally just snapped. It took me like 2 days to realize how bad it got and how bad i was treating her. Now im suffering. We are still good friends but its not the same.

The thing with me though is that I have little remorse. I fucked up and apologized for the things that I did, but now she won't stop bringing it up, and its been like 3 months. She gets mad even when I talk to girls, it is driving me insane.

Oh. Well im on a break and we are supposed to be seeing other people and she has a date tomorrow night. So consider yourself a bit more lucky than myself.

That is probably the worst position to be in. We aren't really seeing other people because neither of us would stand for it. I'd feel sick if I were in your shoes, but maybe you can pull off some magic by tomorrow night and get her back.

she says i should go out and go on dates but the fact of the matter is, i don't want to. I love her and want to be with her only. And even if i did want to i dont have to much "game" to get dates.

Yeah i was wondering that... but what if it had the opposite affect and once she saw me dating she thinks she can start a new relationship?

Yeah it's an iffy move. It could work perfectly or backfire in your face. It all depends on what she wants.

i wanted a break just because i wasn't very happy with anything, i was just depressed and i wanted to be okay for him, even though my relationship was perfect. he begged me not to take a break and i saw his side, decided not to take a break. then he dumped me for someone else....sorry dude...

It ok. I understand the reality of the situation. We might not get back together. Its very tough. But im willing to do anything to make it work.

My girlfriend mixed up that concept. She cheated on me, then wanted a break.

She wanted the break to think about what she really wanted. She admitted to cheating on me, I got her to tell me who it was (an aquaintence of mine). She seemed to regret it so much. She was very genuinely sorry. I had girls cheat on me before and I dated several several women but there was something about her that I saw. I still don't know what it is. The more I think about it, it was almost like love at first site. I just didn't realize it then.

Our six month is on Monday.
