It's reportedly down to Los Angeles and Houston. If he goes to the Dodgers then I think they just made themselves favorites in the NL West (not that its much of an accomplishment). I don't think this guy is done - he could still put up 20 homers and 100 RBI's for a team. An infield of Furcal, Kent, Mueller, and Nomar would be among the best in the league and the Dodgers might actually be able to score some runs.

I'll root for the Dodgers since they picked up Mueller. Couldnt ask for a better guy in the clubhouse (Mueller that is).

Still dont like him at 1B, but nomar cant range anymore so sitcking him on a corner is a good move.

I most certainly did not want Nomar on the Yankees. Damon is another story. He could help us, but the Yankees would most likely not give him the big contract he is looking for. Seven years, hell no. Four, probably.

yeahhhh granted the guy was dumb for turning down $15 mil a year ...but he didnt force his way out. Theo pulled the strings because he didnt want to sign him for the money he was looking for.

It isnt like he requested a trade THREE times or anything.

I'll take Nomar over Manny any day when it comes to betraying a fanbase.

Theo was right in this situation. No way is Nomar worth more than 15 mil a year. Even 15 is a bit much considering his wrist injury. Manny is overpaid by a few million too.

And what did you expect theo to do? Over pay for a potential injury crisis? Nomar brought great players to the sox when he was traded, and they were key parts in the march to victory.

I would blame Nomar for being greedy above anything else, but I wish he was back.

yes you will. you can never get it out of your blood, no matter how hard you try or want too.

back to nomar, though...I wouldn't count Houston out of this race. They could really use his bat in the line-up and they have a number of positions he could play. Wasn't Everett DFA'd about a week ago??

haha they've talked to him.

I just think back to the times when Nomar, A Rod, and Jeter were without a doubt the three best shortstops and now it's a possibility they'll be on the same team.

I don't think Nomar will go to houston. He's a no fit. They have a strong left side, and Bags as a first baseman. He doesn't have the range to play center daily, and the 'stros already have a solid DH. He'll be fighting for a spot in the everyday rotation. Los Angeles can work him in to their offensive scheme better and can rotate him in different spots on the field. I think he is a better fit there too.

The Astros have no offense what so ever. Nomar would be a nice addition and could play a few positions. They can find room for him with his bat.

Also, what DH are you talking about? Houston is NL

12/16/05, 07:21 PM
I really hope he chooses Houston, god knows we need his bat. We have too many good "defensive" (Everett, Ausmus) players and not enough hitters. If he stays healthy he will produce whereever they stick him.

the only boston player i would be opposed to would be manny, because i don't care for him. most of them i would want on "my" team. just about every time i watch a red sox game i say "man i wish we had ____".

i might be violating some sort of yankee/red sox code by admitting that, but it's the truth.

hence: "his injury risk is still concerning"

but, him playing first base will help. He came back well after his injury last year. A few months off and a new position cannot hurt.
