I feel like all three have tried, and in some ways, succeeded in making pop a less dirty word in the world of music, but they've all gone about it in different ways. No doubt Mayer is, in fact, making "radio pop" much more listenable than it is when Lady Gaga and The Jo Bros. clog the airwaves, and he displays more talent on the guitar than the other two bands, but all three are certainly respectable, particularly Anberlin's old stuff, and TSL and Mayer's respective newer works.

LOL...I actually like 'Your Body is a Wonderland', but I suppose it's not for the same reason I like a lot of his other songs. It's a lot less refined and a little silly really, haha. I got into John Mayer when he released Continuum, so I tend to agree with you. Was not interested before that, but after I got the John Mayer Trio album and the new live 2 Disc, I pretty much became a John Mayer fan.

It's all opinion fool. If you like SOCO more than Radiohead, then you like SOCO more than Radiohead. That's what makes music so cool, there is no "GOOD" or "BAD" standard. Its all a matter of opinion. This site was created on the wave of pop punk of the late 1990s and early 2000s. So, its fitting that much of this community will like TSL over John Mayer, and SOCO over Radiohead. Who are you to say is the superior band or artist? Fucking Paul and John are easily better musicians than Ken Vasoli, and I love the Beatles, but if I had to choose, id listen to a TSL record 99% over a Beatles record, that's just how it is.

I only like one album by them, whereas I love all 4 of Mayer's. I also think Mayer is much more creative than Gibbard. I see what you're getting at though. However, for the last poll (Weezer/Muse), I voted Muse even though I enjoy both bands on occasion based purely on the fact that for a 3-piece band, they can make music like no one's business.

I didn't say he wasn't creative or talented. I just can't get into his studio records. I've tried, and I've listened to Continuum and one other (I can't remember which), but it just doesn't do it for me. I haven't listened to Where the Light Is, but I know he's talented, and I have no doubt that he puts on a great live show, but I'm to John Mayer what the non-Radiohead fans are to Radiohead over in that thread, without the hatred of John Mayer fans. I can acknowledge his talent, but I just can't get into it.

I voted Anberlin...TSL is just one of those bands I've never gotten into, John Mayer nearly had my vote but every mention of him on the first page had to do with his twittering and his pop songs, so I didn't want to support him winning on garbage, as opposed to his incredible guitar playing

I had to vote TSL, but I couldn't think of many bands who have as solid discographies as those two.
