If tastefully done, it can be alright I guess.

An Albatross = I can get into it for a bit, then it's off.

noise can be very broad
but An Albatross were mediocre and Daughter's Hell Songs is the only good album
not really noise though

Your latter statement seems to contradict your initial statement!

i love how the thread title is "noise bands" and there hasnt been a noise band mentioned yet. just a bunch of hipster bands that make artsy punk rock. woooooo joy.

I'd recommend Rolo Tomassi, but they probably fall into that 'hipsters that make artsy punk rock' category.

MY brother! haha :)

Yes, Melt Banana is great, although I would only consider their old stuff "noise."

Stuff like Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Hair Police, Wolf Eyes, etc., have their place, like a cleansing of the pallette almost. I can't see though how people actually sit around and listen to it all of the time, and anticipate new records and stuff, because to me, it pretty much sounds the same.

And Wolf Eyes I dislike because they put out like what, a million albums a year? They usually record a few albums all at once, and then sell them seperately. They are ripping people off, and people are just buying into it.

a lot of noise artists put out a tons of limited cd-r's and tapes and then later it gets sold on Ebay for tons of money.
Merzbow has so mch shit it is insane

to please MHT:
The album Merzdub is good
-it is a collaboration between Jamie Saft and Merzbow, supposed to be dub but it gets over powered sometimes
The Lost and Found Sound is really intense stuff
Hair Police is standard
The Late Severa Wires are a great four piece noise outfit
-drum, guitar, bass, dj
-they just put out a new album too
Prurient is standard.
-his new album Rose Pillar is supposedly really good but it is $100 so you might want to wait for that to get on the net
Bastard Noise put out a new album with guest vocals from Bobby Bray and Justin Pearson of The Locucst/Holy Molar
-they are also touring with a drummer, and Eric is doing bass while Nelson still does power electronics, it sounds great.

yap there are some noise rec's
