At least they used a trademarked logo on their page .. it means domain proxy will legally have to give up the name of their 'whois'. I'll post who registered the domain name in the next few days!
Shit like this cracks me up .. it only makes us more popular and solidifies how dominate we've actually become.

This is pathetic.
No, not the site, but you Frank.
I like how the first thing you do is jump to the assumption that Scott Heisel made that site. You guys preach all the time about how other zines are immature in the way they conduct business, you bash Barry of Punkrocks and Scott of Punknews, then you pull this shit, without any sort of verification whatsoever. Who the fuck do you tools think you are? You think just because you get parodied that you're kings of the zine world, like Tate is Babe Ruth and Jared is Joe fucking Dimaggio. No, you have enemies. Notice how there's no fuckpunknews, fuckpitchfork, fuckstylus, or anything else like that? A bit curious.
Does anyone who works here have a shred of fucking integrity? You're only trying to toot your own horn by posting about this site being made. And act like you're taking the high road. You know what the high road would be? NOT EVEN MENTIONING THEIR SITE. Christ, how dense are you? And then dragging Scott's name through the mud? Never once has their been a post on Punknews about any of you, but I guess decency isn't practiced on this side of the internet.
And I love how whenever Tate says something, everyone's got to cup his balls for it. "Tate you're so right, we totally pwn3dz0rz them!!!!" Get your own identities. Do you hold his dick when he pisses, too?
You aren't kings of the web zines, you're the fucking Jesters.

I kinda wanted to say what the guy before me said...I don't think Scott cares enough to make an entire joke page like that. Funny or not, by posting it up you're really just fueling the fire of a "rivalry" that doesn't really exist.
Ok, so punknews.org is always right and absolutepunk.net are better for not making joke sites. Be flattered...imitation is the most sincere form of flattery...could have at least waited until you found out for SURE who did it before you stop throwing names around. You guys talk about how the proxy-reg has to give up the register for using a trademarked logo...how about slander for throwing out names (no matter how suttle the hints are) before you know for sure who it is.

Somehow this bullshit ended up on the Punkrocks.net board, so I decided I would offer my two cents. I am pretty sure that Scott had absolutely nothing to do with the website in question. I talk to Scott quite frequently, and if he was making a retarded webpage to poke fun at you guys, I would probably know about it. I really think you should take the post down, or at least change the headline, because I know Scott didn't do it, and you guys had no proof that he did. To further prove my point here is the website information that one of our board posters found. Scott isn't stupid, if he made a site like this he would probably lose his job at Alternative press. That is all I have to say.

Not once have you ever or will you ever see us attack a site or make a pseudosite in order to attack another.
1) The thing with Barry is a whole nother can of worms, so I'll keep this to Scott. I'm not denying he's been in here and he's said some things in the replies, but there's some things to take into account. One, it's in a reply. He never made a news post on PN about it, that's taking things to a whole nother level. Also, he may, or may not have been provoked, and thus in the right with the comment he makes. But again, it's too late to know either way, so that's neither here nor there.
2) You're completely right. APnet is huge. And you know what, congratulations. I'm sure you guys have put in a ton of hard work to make it that way, so you've deservantly become huge. I don't agree with most of the stuff covered, but I suppose that's irrelevant.
3) However, the whole "guilty until proven innocent" thing, that's bullshit. That site very well may have been made out of jealousy or resentment, or just plain out because somebody doesn't like the site and the way it does things. Presumptions only go so far. You have not made a fake site attacking any other zine, correct, but I shouldn't have to congratulate you guys on that. I shouldn't have to say, "hey you haven't made a site called Fuckpastepunk yet, kudos on that!" As somebody involved in a zine, and I know because I am as well, we're supposed to act with integrity. I know, I know, "it's just the internet," but honestly, what Frank did is some juvenile fucking buillshit. And the fact that Tate has no problem with it, shows that he has little to no decency. I'm not saying you should agree with the joke site, but if you guys, and some of you already have, could take a look back and laugh at yourselves, you'd see that there's no reason to post something like this. It's only fueling the fire, as somebody earlier mentioned.
I'm not lumping all APnet staff in together with this, but there's definitely a few of you who would do well to graduate the 8th grade.
And for your information, the domain was registered by somebody in Arizona. And before I get accused of making the site myself, I live in Upstate NY, I'm sure Tate could verify my IP on that.

The internet isn't my life. I love being sarcastic on here and saying off-the-wall things just for kicks. I don't beef with people in real life so I'm not going to have feuds or rivalries in "Internet Land."
I respect every other site and person on the web striving to expose music they're passionate about to more people. I'm not Jason, Frank, Scott or Barry so I can't talk for them, but sites and the people behind them who make it their aim to attack others doing the same thing because they're jealous, don't like the personal preference in regards to the music the other person listens to, or any various other reason is ridiculous.

ok, no, it's not him. it's ludicrous to think it is. in fact, i just sent him the link, and it's definitely not him. he's sort of outraged, but not really. i still think it's funny. and the fact that you fucks will do anything to keep Jason Tate on your good side even though his overall position in the world is meaningless and he can, realistically, do nothing for you, is outrageously moronic. frank, you're trite and pathetic. at least jared is taking it in stride and not being a presumptuous prick about it. that's called illiteration, baby. you like that? i, personally, thought the Dick Coughman thing was fairly humourous. the guy shitting on the floor at the bottom was not. fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, scott heisel is my baby's mama, fuck you, i'm out.

I guess you're referring to the original title (which I hadn't even seen and read until I looked at the history of this thread) that implied Scott Heisel had something to do with the "spoof" website. To be fair, you must admit that history has shown it would be something Scott may have been involved in.
First, slander is spoken - not written. Not only that, but showcasing your lack of knowledge on the subject ... it's not libel either. The statement made was "Heisel is cute" - nothing else. The implication itself about what that meant, would not be held in any court to mean anything at all. Furthermore, malice aforethought is needed - and with a statement such as "Heisel is cute" you're never going to be able to prove that.
oh btw the mpaa and riaa called, they want you to work for them. they said they liked how you overlooked the fact that this is a parody (fair use bs and all) and went straight for legal action. the mpa called while i was still on the phone with the other big boys but i'm sure they were thinking the same thing.
Ahh, you may be decent with Flash and PHP, but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Seriously. Maybe you should be redesigning the P!aTD website right now instead of talking over here. First off, I never threatened or took any sort of legal action, because I don't have to. And I quote from domainsbyproxy.com. "Prohibitions: Domains By Proxy will not do business with you, nor protect your identity, if you: Violate the law or infringe a third party’s trademark or copyright." The legality of Fair Use (which you obviously don't know a whole lot about) wouldn't even come into play. Second, actually talk to a lawyer about fair use some time, you'd be shocked at what you can't actually do. 2) I never planned to take any sort of legal action, at all ... just release the name of who registered the domain name. Fuck, I want this shit spread around ... it's free publicity and word of mouth for me and this website. Why would I care if people spoof AP.net - myspace has spoofs, microsoft has spoofs, apple has spoofs, google has spoofs. In my opinion, that's good company to be in.
And for your information, the domain was registered by somebody in Arizona. And before I get accused of making the site myself, I live in Upstate NY, I'm sure Tate could verify my IP on that.
I saw this post, and responded, from my sidekick in the back of a car early this morning. I didn't even read the title. However, saying I have no decency toward Scott Heisel is ludicrous. No shit I have no decency toward that man. I try to ignore him completely and don't associate or want to be involved with anything at all related to him. After the shit he's pulled, and the backhanded things he's done .. I think I've gained the right not to be "decent" in matters related to him. However, he had nothing to do with this AT ALL - and I'm glad to see the post title has been changed.
Ps: Domainsbyproxy is from AZ, not the actual owner. But, I don't care if it was you that made the site, seriously .. if you (or whoever) want to waste youe time on something seen by 900 people today and 5 the rest of the year, that's fine by me. As I said before, it's only publicity for us ...

i talk to scott. i've hung out with scott. we're both stubborn bastards, and we agree on virtually nothing, but i like the son of a bitch. you would think he's got more important shit to do, what with a job at a real magazine and a record label, than to make up stuff like this, but come on, the site is registered in SCOTTsdale! you have to see the connection! it's totally him!!!
ok, no, it's not him. it's ludicrous to think it is. in fact, i just sent him the link, and it's definitely not him. he's sort of outraged, but not really. i still think it's funny. and the fact that you fucks will do anything to keep Jason Tate on your good side even though his overall position in the world is meaningless and he can, realistically, do nothing for you, is outrageously moronic. frank, you're trite and pathetic. at least jared is taking it in stride and not being a presumptuous prick about it. that's called illiteration, baby. you like that? i, personally, thought the Dick Coughman thing was fairly humourous. the guy shitting on the floor at the bottom was not. fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, scott heisel is my baby's mama, fuck you, i'm out.
the Jason.
What's illiteration? Is that where you illustrate the same letters in a row?
That being said, I don't know WHAT evidence Frank had to assume it was Scott, so you'd have to ask him. But I, personally, never thought it was ... Scott has far too much to be doing to waste his time. PLUS, the kid's a lot funnier and wittier than anything on that page.
People don't try to keep me on their goodside for any reason in this matter other than the fact that this page is admittedly (by many of my haters) - lame and stupid. As for not being able to do anything for people ... I'd say that's a fair assumption, the music is what needs to stand in the end, I have always only wanted a place to share my thoughts on my personal musical tastes. That's all AP is .. it's something I enjoy. I don't help the bands I do because they are on my good side, I do it because I love the music, I support good people, and my visitors want it. Nothing more ...

Everyone needs to get over themselves. Focus on reporting the news and changing the music industry. The current model is ready to die as digital music is on horizon. Pretty soon, independent bands are going to be phased out, what happened to "wanting to play music for the sake of music" rather than, we got signed by the imprint of universal or island. Jesus, get over yourselves.

no need to get personal (and it sounds like you're slamming greg at goat farm design, the guy who designed the panic site.. don't know why)
parody is one of the 3 main types of fair use. since absolutechump is clearly making a parody of this site, and not using your trademark in order to trick people into thinking that they are at absolutepunk.net, they are protected. it would mean they are not actually infringing on your trademark / copyright.
while it's not quite legal action, trying to force domains by proxy into giving up the information of their client is exactly what the **aa's do with their cease and desist letters etc. hopefully they will deny your appeal or claim or whatever the process is. if they give up the information, they have broken their own terms of service, and sold out their customer.

Uhm. If I were you, I'd call a copyright attorney before you make legal assumptions that a simple google search disproves. Call me what you will, but if someone hides behind a mask - someone else will find out how to remove the mask. The fact that someone wasted their time to hide their identity is what intrigues me. Why does anyone need to hide? Why are you so adamant to protect this person? Interesting. Furthermore they are following the letter of the law, not going against their TOS.

This is YOUR website. YOU should not have allowed it to happen, and when you found out about it, YOU should have immediately taken it down.
If you're a manager, and one of your employees does something to fuck up a company action, guess who the CEO is putting the blame on, YOU, the boss. The employee will be dealt with as well, but since he's under your jurisdiction, the blame comes to your desk. So don't pull the "I had no part in it" card, that's bullshit.
Also, you obviously know nothing of law whatsoever. Educate yourself.

parody...i dunno man. 311 had to stop production of their "7-11" store logo spoof tshirt because of the threat of legal action. i dont claim to be an expert on the subject, but i think your walking in to territory that you are less familiar with than you think.
ps- people should chill out. the site is a lame, slightly funny parody of ap.net. tada. end of story =).
