yeah, I'm still not sold on Drew Brees though. I still think he's capable of making a dumb play and f'ing everything up at a crucial point. They've only ran 4 run plays so far as opposed to 11 passes ..that ratio needs to change if they wanna win.

Wish I was watching this game instead of watching the refs play in Minnesota.
Looks like San Diego's playing their best game of the season, those bastards. Their season's over, they should give up and let history happen. Dungy's fears seem to be coming true too as according to nfl.com, two players were already hurt during the game for his team.

N.Kaeding kicks 65 yards from SD 30 to IND 5. D.Rhodes MUFFS catch, touched at IND 9, and recovers at IND 9. D.Rhodes to IND 21 for 12 yards (H.Milligan). PENALTY on IND-K.O`Neil, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at IND 21.
1-10-IND 11 (1:50) E.James right tackle to IND 17 for 6 yards (R.Godfrey). PENALTY on IND-D.Gandy, Offensive Holding, 5 yards, enforced at IND 11 - No Play.

If the Chiefs left anything opened, the Steelers slammed it shut last week. All they have to do is win their games and the Chargers don't make it, because of the head-to-head win.

I don't think they'll lose today but I definitely dont think they're a lock to win out. They are a suspect team and are entirely capable of losing one of their remaining games, including today. San Diego definitely has something to play for.

They have Cleveland and Detroit, what's so hard about that? Only thing hard about this game is the dome effect, Steelers don't play in domes well.

Well first off there is today ..which is definitely up in the air. Detroit won't be a problem I think ..but I wouldnt write off Cleveland. They've beaten Chicago and they've played tough teams close (3 point loss at Cincy, 7 point loss at Indy). Droughns running well and Frye has been efficient.
I don't think Cleveland will beat them ..but theres a case to be made for them. Today is their toughest test left though, for sure.

Figures Martyball would go for the FG. This isn't nothing new. Colts looked like crap in the first half last year against them, then came out and started scoring in the 3rd, while still looking like crap on defense. Then the 4th quarter came and they got it to OT. In a big game for his team, Marty most often finds a way to choke it up.
The Colts might be thinking about pulling their guys for the second half, but I'm sure Manning will want to put some points on the board before that'd happen.

still_life
12/18/05, 11:46 AM
Yeah, Manning has two 4th quarter comebacks against SD, and has never lost to them. They'll figure something out. The defense needs to get better too, they're looking like the old Colts. They almost let a 93 yard TD drive on that last one.

He wasn't making any point, just a dumb comment. You're the ones that try and change your arguments. I have to summarize myself every time for you people.
- Minnesota isn't a great team, but they're better than Tennessee
- Tennessee is one of the worst teams in the AFC
- Minnesota is one of the top 9 or so teams in the NFC

Drew Beringer
12/18/05, 12:57 PM

lol. I know, but for the most part, they are. Sure some are far-fetched and he says some stuff to piss people off, but there has never been a post of his where I've thought to myself, "wow, that makes no sense"
And he is right, the Vikings have won 6 in a row and are playing for the playoffs. Tennessee aren't good and Seattle should be killing them.
my point was not that the vikings are better than the tennessee, because obviously i think vikings > titans. however, all of the sudden, 8 wins in the NFC means something to him, when at no other point in this season has he given nfc teams any credit.
for someone who puts SOOOO much emphasis on strength of schedule you THINK he would at least look at who the titans have played and who the vikings have played, but no.

You try a 59 yard FG before halftime, but don't try a 55? I don't know about that call.
This sucks, because SD is irrelevant and won't even make the playoffs, yet they decide to play their best game. At least it makes an easy decision for Dungy on what to do in the last two games. I'd play the starters for a series against Seattle, then sit them. Then I'd play a half against Arizona with the starters, then sit them.

I think its gonna end up being Pittsburgh at Denver. I think Denver will lose to San Diego in their last game and Cincy wins out which puts them at #2. Either way I don't like Pittsburgh chances against either.
I think New England will end up going to Indy in the 2nd round, unless Pittsburgh pulls off an upset. Then they'd have to go play at Indy.

SD still has to beat the Chiefs, who never seem to lose in Arrowhead in December. They're not relevant. The Steelers will win out and go to 11-5. SD most likely finishes 8th in a 6 team race.

SD is tied for the 6th spot ...they are certainly connected to the playoff picture and therefore today's game was relevant.

Oh yeah, weakest SOS for any SB winner I believe. It's too hard to go undefeated in today's NFL. Look at today, if it was a 14 game season like back then, I'm sure the Colts would have went balls out to win this game then go into the playoffs. They could have definitely used their real d-line today. Though it looks like this game was lost on the o-line. No running holes, and pathetic pass protection. Manning never gets that many hurries and knockdowns in a game.

Yeah, I realize the odds are against SD and by no means is their playoff chances equal to Pittsburgh. But you're ignorant to say it cant happen. They just went on the road and beat a team trying to become the first undefeated team in 33 years. They can beat KC and Denver. Cleveland almost took out Cincy on the road last week and beat Chicago ..its by no mean a gimmie for Pittsburgh.

This is how I see the AFC playoff seeding playing out:
1. Indianapolis 14-2 (They'll probably lose at Seattle because they'll sit starters)
2. Denver 13-3 (They win out)
3. Cincinnati 12-4 (Lose last game at KC, because they will sit starters)
4. New England 11-5 (They win out)
5. Jacksonville 12-4 (They win out)
6. Pittsburgh 11-5 (They win out)
First round:
Jacksonville at New England: NE wins, lack of experience kills Jacksonville.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati: Pittsburgh upsets Cincy.
Second Round:
Pittsburgh at Indy: Indy wins
New England at Denver: Denver wins
AFC Championship:
Denver at Indianapolis: Indy wins in a close one.

KC has won 17 games in a row in December at Arrowhead. Denver already beat San Diego once this year, and will probably need to win that game with Cincy breathing down their back.
