how people bash emo kids and the genre? I think its become too much of a house hold name. I mean people throw it around like nothing and make fun of people who are in an emo band or dress emo. If any of you dislike emo, what is your reason and don't just say, because its gay or something along those lines...

EXACTLY.... i dont need a reason to like it.... i listen to it because i want too, i dont get how people can just go all off on you because you like emo.. i mean come on its not like i stand there yelling at you for likeing hardcore or punk?.... emo is just from the heart and really deep which is why i listen. Especially to bright eyes.. his lyrics are so amazing and deep leaving you speechless. emo isnt for people who take things too seriously... i sure as hell dont.

I cant stand emo. Its just SO uncreative. They all sing about the same stuff in the same way. We all have the same problems, the only difference is emo kids feel that other ppl actually care about their stupid trivial problems, and they feel they hafta whine about them. Punk has tons of outside fusion and creative influences ranging from reggae to techno. But i havnt heard any emo band that struck me as creative or different or original. And punk bands sing about tons of different things from politics to soceity to dreams to acid trips, just things that can be very thought provoking, profound or worthy of attention. But emo all sings about the same stuff in the same way. Its just a fad. Its too stupid to last.

Punk songs continue to be quoted in political and Religious books (among many other genres) to this day. look, to be quite honest, i dont get the whole concept of emo. id never heard the term before i came on this forum so im not really clear on exactly what it is. if someone would like to explain it to me that would be great but if your just gonna be a fuckhead about it and bash me for not knowing something then you really havent grasped the whole punk concept. so before you start carrying on like an idoit, just remember, if you never ask, you will never know.

emo is short for emotional music (which seems wrong to me because all legitamit music is emotional.) It's charachterisics include complex melodies, minor chords, and lyrics are often about depression or the lyricists love life.
