Would you rather finish 8-8 and hope the cowboys lose 3 straight so we have the same record as them or go 6-10 and get a better draft pick?

I'm not a fan of either team, but I will always take pride over a draft pick, that's why I want my Packers to win out, it'll make the fans feel great and make the offseason not seem so bad. So, yes you should want the Eagles to win out and the Cowboys to lose out.

my dad has been a 49er fan his entire life and is hoping they have the worst record so they can get Reggie Bush. I don't see how that is not supporting your team. They are obviously done for the season so why not hope that they get a good draft pick so they will be better next season and possibly get into the playoffs.

agreed, they need to get healthy and they need a wide reciever and some sort of pash rushing playmaker, whether it be an end of outside linebacker, which is feasible, and they should be right back at the top of the nfc again next year

i don't even know what that comment means...but the linebacking corp isn't far off from what it was last year, and the eagles are so far under the cap, to suggest that the only way they can fill their gaps is through the draft is fucking ridiculous. and if you want to talk about reid's draft history...michael lewis, sheldon brown, lito sheppard, westbrook, LJ smith, shawn andrews, etc. just because he hasn't picked up a linebacker doesn't mean the man can't draft as he's done better with his late first rounders and beyond than anybody in the NFL the past few years.

wonderful. hoping, and rooting against your own team are 2 different things. If your team loses again, no biggie, and if they win, well that's a plus too.

it means that reid has ignored the linebacking position for his entire tenure as a coach. the best LB he ever drafted was barry gardner. thats not saying much. its a position reid continues to ignore and yet in free agency he has yet to pick one up that is semi-successful. (simoneau, dhani jones, nate wayne). none of those worked out. reid needs to draft a linebacker. its disgusting. LJ Smith has no hands, hes dropped 7 balls in the endzone this year already, thats insane. shawn andrews has been flagged for more false starts than any other linemen (17...artis hicks next with 8 ). and sheppard/brown isnt a great combo like the eagles want the media to perceive.

in summation, the eagles have so much work to do this offseason. in addition to the draft they need to find a WR that already has put up decent numbers, or their season ticket holders will start selling. ive been to 5 games this year already. people are selling their tix at a rapid amount. besides the secondary, every position needs attention (minus TE and FB). and i am saying they need to sign a new QB.

I agree with a lot of what you say regarding the problems with certain positions. But I don't think any of those positions is going to be magically solved by getting the 9th pick over the 16th which is what this whole thing was about. They don't need the same number one guy that the Texans and 49ers need, they need a lot of solid players. Their problems, like you said, stem more from Reid's failure to recognize certain needs rather then draft where they need it or spend the money to fill them.

Now, ignoring the draft issue, since you started it...it's vent time. Keith Adams is awful. Simoneau has actually done well in his time in this year and on special teams and it's time to bench captain jump on top of the pile and put in the guy who will at least stick his nose in there. After that, I've noticed that almost every player on the Eagles that played well when they were doing well, is playing down to the team right now. Dhani Jones is absent from every play. LJ Smith is embarrassing right now. The offensive line is in so much trouble right now that it needs to be top priority in the off season. And I agree, not just Brown and Shappart, but even Dawkins and Lewis have looked very hole filled this year, which worries me a little, but I think a lot of it has to do with the rest of the defense. The play calling has been bad and hung the secondary out to dry. Dawkins can't cover...he really never has been able to, so when they don't blitz and get pressure on the QB, he's toast. Even if that is a weakness, the Eagles have so many other areas they need to focus on, they don't have time to worry about revamping the secondary. And if they do it's time to get Rod Hood the fuck out of there.

i disagree with the Rod Hood statement. dude is a great 3rd cornerback. much better than al harris, doesnt get called for too many pass interferences. and its not the play calling that has been bad this year with the defense, its the lineman. Kearse is probably going to get cut this offseason and no one else is able to get pressure on the QB. last year the defense was getting so much pressure on the Qb that they were throwing it so early, the seconday came up with so many INTs. i blame jim johnson, not his play calling, but his inability to get some quality D-Lineman on the squad. cutting simon looks like a bad choice now.

I don't like Rod Hood. I agree that no one is worse than Al Harris and I shudder every time I watch a Packers game and they praise him, but though his ratio of good to bad is lower than Harris's, I still see Rod Hood as 3 bad plays to every one good one easily. Hard to tell though with the rest of the D being such a mess.

The playcalling is together with the line. Kearse is overrated and should be cut or at least lose pay for getting injured 3 times a game for 2 straight years, and they have been awful with getting pressure. However, there are ways around just the front 4 that Johnson has always been able to make work. Suddenly the Eagles are so concerned with keeping a balanced defense that they don't blitz and it's leaving all the pressure up to the sorry front 4. It's tough for any secondary to keep receivers covered if the quarterback has all day. Simon needed to go, though I had no idea Walker would be as bad as he has this year. The whole team needs to fresh look to at least rejuvinate the good players that are playing badly, but the coaches need to reevaluate the way they've been doing things on the field as well as off.

hollis thomas is getting old, walker has been benched already, kearse will be cut, and mike patterson is just learning. he cant blitz with all those guys. he needs the secondary to step up. this weeks game is gonna be another slobber-knocker. i think it will end up being 16-13 birds, unless warner is in the lineup.

sorry, those corners and safety's weren't made to be cover guys. lewis and dawkins are lost if they can't get up on the line once in awhile. Luckily Warner (if he plays) is immobile so pressure shouldn't be as hard. Otherwise it's going to be another ugly game.

basically all he is right now is a very expensive way of keeping the trainers busy during the game. he needs to show something or get out and let a new end in.

the problem is the rest of the line is not doing anything...he is constantly double teamed and triple teamed. our d tackles fucking blow. Kearse usually takes away outside runs to his side. He has not missed any games in his 2 seasons with the eagles.

definitely. i'd rather win out and have some confidence at the end of the season. anyway, what's the difference between the 14th and 17th draft pick? not much. if it were a question of 1st pick, it MIGHT be a different story, but you can't root against your team.
