Volusia County (FL) joins Leon in dumping Diebold (http://www.bbvforums.org/cgi-bin/forums/board-auth.cgi?file=/1954/15595.html). Due to contractual non-performance and security design issues, Leon County (Florida) supervisor of elections, Ion Sancho, has announced that he will never again use Diebold in an election. He has requested funds to replace the Diebold system from the county. On Tuesday, the most serious “hack” demonstration to date took place in Leon County. The Diebold machines succumbed quickly to alteration of the votes. This comes on the heels of the resignation of Diebold CEO Wally O'Dell, and the announcement that stockholder's class action suits and related actions have been filed against Diebold by four separate law firms.

Is the irony really thick that you're from Ohio? I think so! I smiled upon reading that. Not in a mean way, just one of contemplation.

Al Gore should demand a recount again. Maybe he can change the past 5 years.

well, now that we dont need the diebold machines to fuck up elections in favor of bush anymore, lets get rid of em. ;) im just playing, there were more factors in why bush won when he shouldn't have (twice) aside from bad machines: like an ill-informed country that thinks voting for a "good-ol-boy" and "standing by your president" is more important that...well...the fact that hes going to fuck everything up :O.

i remember seeing a video on the internet after the last election showing the flaws in the diebold machines, but it didn't seem to make much of a rippple in the pond of politics though. from what i recall, they taught howard dean how to hack the machine and change the results in less than a few minutes. crazy. i also remember that you could download the software that was used on the machine so you could learn how it works and stuff right from the company's ftp site (for a while, im sure its down now).
