Who are some famous sports stars from your town or whatever. If I said State, there'd be a million. I mean just your little area.

From Staten Island, NY:

Jason Marquis (Cardinals)
Joe Andruzzi (Patriots)
Adewale Ogunleye (Bears)
John Wolyniec (Soccer player)

Wolyniec went to my school, and the other three all went to Tottenville high school.

Also, from Brooklyn, NY (where I used to live).. Rich Aurilia, John Franco, and Chris Mullin. Chris Mullin sat two seats behind my dad in their Math class, haha.

from Kalamazoo/Portage (basically Portage is the rich part and Kalamazoo is the poor part, to be honest):

Derek Jeter (Yankees [However, him being on there doesn't make me a Yankee fan. I just root for him. Ideal season= Jeter being an all start, yankees going 62-100 or worse])
TJ Duckett (Falcons)
Jason Babin (LB/DE, Houston Texans)*
Adam Hall (Nashville Predators - NHL)
Chris Crawford (Used to play for the Atlanta Hawks, now I have no idea where he is).
Greg Jennings (Western Michigan University, soon to be drafted to the NFL).

*Babin is almost completely insane. He likes to eat a bucket of chicken before games when he played here at Western Michigan University, and he'd eat it all, meat and bones.

Well since my hometown is about 7000 people, ill just go with a 30 mile radius.

Jerry Sloan - Mcleansboro, Il - 10 miles from my town
Doug Collins - Benton, Il - 20 miles from my town
Troy Hudson - Carbondale, Il 20 miles from my town
Gary Gaetti - Centralia Il - 30 miles

I had a few beers with Jerry during the offseason a couple of years ago. He's basically the town during that time. His town is WAY small, with only about two bars, that both suck...so he comes to my town to drink.

If you wanna venture out a little bit, Darius Miles is from about an hour away, and I played a game against him in high school.

And we're not really known as a hot bed for putting too many players in the pros in any leauge. But the Southern Illinois Salukis have produced a few.

baseball notables - jim dwyer, steve finley, jerry hairston(his little brother stetson is on the basketball team now), sean bergman, al levine and dave stieb

basketball - joe meriweather, troy hudson, chris carr, and walt frazier

and of course my ninja donta. he's originally from kentucky, but went to the small ass ghetto community college in my hometown.

good idea for a thread.

joe andruzzi is not on the patriots.

Wasn't he on the Patriots a few years ago? Maybe that's why I thought that.

I think the only professional athlete who came out of Plymouth was Mike Remlinger who was a great reliever (up until this year. I think he's probably done now).

I think a guy from Baywatch is from here too, not sure which one. I honestly don't care either, because it's not Hasselhoff. Therefore, he is irrelevant.

Troy Murphy is from the same town as my grandparents... I practiced with him the summer before his freshman year at ND and mine in HS. The fact that he took time to work with me was pretty cool, and he's a really great guy to boot.

There's a shitload from the area of Pittsburgh.

But to slim it down...I'll go with the areas that were close to the school districts I went to.

Bill Cowher went to school with my dad
Sean Casey went to a school around here
Ty Law too
Marc Bulger

I'm not sure where Dan Marino and Joe Montana went either. But yes, they're from Pittsburgh.

I forgot Jerome Harrison from Washington State University. he went to high school with Greg Jennings.

Harrison should have won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back. but that's another topic.

and, i found out a kid I went to high school with, Jacob Peterson, is skipping his senior season at Indiana University to play in the MLS for the team in New York (don't know the name, i don't follow much soccer.)

Daryl Johnston (Fox football analyst/ Retired from Dallas Cowboys) was Emmitt Smith's fullback for 12 seasons (1989-1999) and was a 2 time Pro Bowler. My family and his family are close friends. It's cool.
