This is what alot of us have been wishing for...

hopefully, it means at least SOMEWHAT of a better offense.

I wish him luck and everything, but Rex Grossman won't take them to the super bowl.

However, in Kyle Orton's defense he did tie the Bears rookie record for TD passes.
Which is surprising, considering how horrible they are on offense. Orton was overrated in college and will be a dud in the pros.

No, I don't think Rex is taking them to the Super Bowl this year, but he could take them further into the playoffs than Orton would have.

Maybe they'll have 220 yards of offense this week.

i think it was a good move. he came in last night and gave them a boost that pretty much gave them momentum for the rest of the game. i think it was the right call.

so should I pick him up for the final game?

It is kind of forgotten that they have Mushin Muhammad and a solid number 2 in Justin Gage and Dallas Clark. With Thomas Jones in there as well if someone can actually throw the ball down the field and be an above average QB then the Bears are looking a lot better.

As long as he doesn't give the ball away. He got last night. I'm not sure how he would do in a full game. He did make a difference in the second half. Hopefully, the defense can keep their shit together, keep the opposing teams under 14 points, and then we have a fair chance in doing something in the playoffs. This means the offense has to really step up though and be capable of scoring 21+ points a game.

i wanna see him in a full game before i make any judgements.

he made his debut in a cake situation. they were already up 6-3 and that defense wasn't giving up any more points. so there really wasn't any pressure there. i'm interested to see how he'll do in a 0-0 game.

even as poor as orton's been playing, i've been against switching qb's. i just don't like fixing things until it's completely broken.

but, after last night, he showed some stuff. the kinda zip he had on those balls looked promising. he didn't play fantastic, but he played fair.

i think he'll make more mistakes than orton. he seems to have more balls and be more willing to take some chances, which orton won't. but, he's got big play potential. orton doesn't. so even if he does make a mistake here and there, he's capable of answering it with a big play and not making one turnover overly devastating.

i'd say they're definitely more of a threat in the playoffs with him than with orton.

Exactly. I think the defense is capable of fixing Grossman's mistakes. But like you said, we need to see him play a full game.

I am so glad they finally put him in IMO he should have been in the second half of last weeks game. But he did look way better than Orton. He did throw the pic but at least he drove them down the field twice. Unfortunately for me my other team (the Texans) won't tank it so they can get Reggie Bush.

its desmond clark. dallas is the white tight end playing for that team that just lost to the chargers

I'm pretty sure I started to shat myself when he threw that int. on the 1, but I pushed it back in as soon as ATL. fumbled. The drawers were saved. I liked Grossman's play. All I know is Mushin had no right to yell at Orton like he did. I never saw Orton call out Mohammed on the absurd amount of passes he has dropped this year. Pussy. Give the ball to Gage. I think the bear's will fare just fine next week. Green bay's defense will probably be on the verge of commiting suicide after last nite's performance. They made Kyle Boller look like a Pro Bowl QB.

I'm starting to think starting Grossman isn't a great idea. I think they should stick with Ortan at least for the first half.

This is how it should be. Rex is a stud; he has a cannon and the potential to be a top 5 QB (if he stays healthy!). He has great targets to hit deep and a surprisingly solid run game to keep the opposition in check.

Orton checked down on every pass; you don't need to watch NFL Matchup to figure that out. Orton's a nice, intelligent guy and he'll defnitely make a great #2 QB. But until he's willing to take the deep shots (risks!) he shouldn't start.

Opposing teams should be very, very afraid of Da Bears. They are only going to get better next season. My question to you huge fans: what do the Bears need in the offseason? I know they're in the middle of a playoff season, but Chicago is one of the few teams that has no major needs. The only thing I could think of was a TE. Just interested to hear your feedback.

A solid QB, a tight end, and one more wide reciever to be safe. I don't like Dez. I want to see him gone.

they need to do something about the quarterback position.

if rex works out and stays healthy next year, that's great. but they can't go and rely on him for another year.

they need to get an experienced backup. i understand orton will be an alright backup, but i think they need a veteran there to push orton for the no. 2 spot. that way all bases are covered if rexy goes down again.

and i think they need a big play receiver. somebody who's a threat deep or that can take a five-yard out and bust it for 80. muhammed's a great receiver, but more along the possesion type.
