I Need a Conservative Voice

I want to start a political blog. I want the format to be that two writers from different sides of the political spectrum tackle a single news story from their point of view. I think it would be interesting to get two points of view without the bickering and attacking that can sometimes happen in these forums.

This doesn't have to be the format for every post, maybe it could be a once a week section, but my main point is that I'd like to get two different viewpoints together so that people can understand the other side instead of merely thinking they do, and arguing from that perspective. I'd also like to get a few people working on this so that we can have writers for different areas (the economy, the media etc.) that know what they're talking about.

Lemme know if you're interested or have any ideas about how to work this out.

Yeah, I tend not to venture in there. I really don't have too strong of an opinion to argue anything. I mean, I believe in God and the bible, but tend to hold Scoreses' Last Temptation of Christ to be more accurate than Gibson's Passion of the Christ

I have no idea. It was during a time where I didn't post anything for a while. I think I was just writing my review of CPAC; One day I just logged in and got an error message when I went to view that thread. I asked around and didn't get an answer from anyone. I just decided it was better not to rock the boat.

I had just gotten unbanned a week prior to that for "arguing with the mods" when I asked why of all things they could have given me a warning for, they chose the least offensive thing. I got warned for asking if people would have recognized the "monumental achievement for the historically oppressed" had a woman won, or eventually when a woman wins. I then proceeded to question how of all the ridiculous things I posted during Inauguration weekend, how that was the one I got in trouble for. Long story short, after a ban where I didn't know how long I was out for, I wanted to stay around a while this time so I didn't want to argue it too much. Although, I wouldn't mind being reinstated there.

Yeah, it confused me. I didn't even know who did it or that it happened. The only one to answer me was Tristan, but he couldn't tell me who did it or why. He siad it wasn't related to the previous banning though. I can't even read the thread though, so I forgot all about the blind girl.

The only points I got were on Inauguration day. 5 for saying that if a woman had won the election, the uproar sorrounding this inauguration wouldn't be the same (which was in direct reference to someone saying that it would have been. I believe I used Palin and Jindal as examples of minorities who if elected would be breaking down barriers, yet wouldn't be viewed as pioneers like Obama is). I got 5 for asking how of everything I said that day that THAT was the one I got points for (I thought for sure saying that Obama will suceed because, like baseball did with Jackie Robinson, they waited until they got someone who couldn't possibly mess up and be a failure, becuase a failure would only meanset the movement back 20 years and prevent a black man from getting back in, was more worthy of points). They're hard to explain. Do a search, I believe there is a thread that Jason tries to explain them, but they're completely ridiculous. When you do something a mod doesn't like they give you (an) infraction point(s). They stay on you for an unknown amount of time, when you get to 15 your banned.

The only way you can see how many you have is by keeping track of them yourself. Everytime you get one you get a PM that looks like this.

I would love to see what you got 5! points for, was it good? I got banned like 2 years ago, but I don't remember what for exactly (althought I remember it being fair at the time), I do know the points system wasn't in play then.

I often refrain from clicking "Post Reply" on this forum due to fear of getting set ablaze by the masses. I guess that means I'm qualified to help? Plus, I'm from the most backwards state this side of Mississippi, I could inform the masses of what's going on with the writhing mass of redneck we call a state (I would be considered VERY conservative in most other states, but here I'm pretty moderate).

What is meant by a "Conservative Voice" - technically wouldn't that be anyone who could intelligently argue that "side" even if they didn't support it? Or do you mean that the person literally has to be on the right-end of the spectrum for all issues? Because trying to pit a conservative voice versus a liberal one makes sense - but not all conservatives share stereotypical views and neither do liberals. Are you trying to make the blog balanced and fair? I think it is a good idea - but if you want to really want to make headway with your blog, make sure this conservative presence is an epistemic equal. If you're just doing this to point out the "stupidity" and "inferiority" of conservatives, [not that I think you are] it's already been done. If you are trying to bring something new to the table - awesome. If not, it's going to come off as a cliche' and people won't actually read both sides. They'll look at it, but instead of synthesizing some new ideas, it will just turn into an internet bloodbath.
