black cat is good for alternative.
but other than those two, i dont know of anything else. DC doesnt seem to have a thriving live scene of any kind, at least not now -- i know the hardcore scene in the late 80s was massively influential, but these days im not sure what comes from the area. there are surprisingly few small/midsize standing-only type venues given that it's the nation's capital city.
Yeah seriously, I am also pretty surprised there isn't much. 930 Club is really the only one I have been to
930 and black cat as they have said. go down towards baltimore. sonar, ottobar, fletchers, rams head live, and recher theatre a little farther up

The Rock and Roll Hotel is a well-kept secret in DC. Pretty sketchy part of town, but I've seen a lot of really good bands there.

There's only a few. 930 club, black cat as mentioned, and uh...oh yeah, that really is about it. I just go to Richmond or PA mainly.

Go to Baltimore. The city may smell like rotting dead bodies, but they have the best venues. Rams Head Live is one of my favorites, but Ottobar brings in all the bands that I like.
