By claiming something you listen to is a "guilty pleasure," especially something beloved by many, you're essentially making the case that those who listen to it without a sense of irony or who don't feel guilty are in some way inferior to you, because you "self-loathingly enjoy it."

I like Fall Out Boy. I do. They're fun and keen. I feel far from guilty about listening to them.

It's because he's inherently better than you two in that he begrudgingly enjoys them where as the two of you sincerely enjoy them, and he deems them too shitty to be legitimately enthralled by. He's just better. Duh!

This is why "guilty pleasures" is yet another form of that horrid "elitist mentality" most kids who actually subscribe to the idea are oblivious to.

I mean, yeah some bands are considered "shitty" online, but when it comes down to it, a lot of the people who say a band is shitty, may just say that to fit in with their peers in the AP.net world... and when they are literally online talking shit about a band, they maybe listening to that exact band, so really it doesn't matter what shit is given on the net, even in real life it shouldn't matter when I think about it, just be more knowledgeable than the person giving you shit and make them look stupid.
