Worst Albums of 2005

4. Aiden – Nightmare Anatomy. Yeah.
3. Day at the Fair – The Rocking Chair Years. I couldn’t even get through one song (not literally, but close).
2. Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil. I’d rather have my eyeballs smeared with shit and my asshole ripped apart with Tabasco drenched knives than listen to this band.
1. Giles – Giles. The epitome of audio diarrhea.

Most Overrated Albums of 2005
Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that I don’t like the albums, I just don’t think they’re as good as everyone says.

7. All Time Low - The Party Scene. Good stuff, don't understand the jizz-worthiness of it though.
6. Nightmare of You – Nightmare of You. I know this is the equivalent of AP.net-suicide, but the album just never clicked with me. It’s good, just never got into it quite like others did.
5. Circa Survive – Juturna. Aside from “Act Appalled” and “The Great Golden Baby,” I was pretty indifferent towards this album. Yeah, Anthony Green’s got a great voice, but I felt like something was missing in the songwriting.
4. The Mars Volta – Frances the Mute. Way too much wankery for my liking; still a huge fan of Deloused in the Comatorium though.
3. The Higher – Histrionics. Yeah, they’re good pop punk and “Histrionics” is an awesome song, but they’re not that good.
2.. Darkest Hour – Undoing Ruin. I keep seeing all sorts of bands and critics praising the this album, but I just don’t get what differentiates these guys from the countless other bands playing rehashed Swedish metal; I’d rather listen to At the Gates. It’s a solid album, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t see what’s so special.
1. Kanye West – Late Registration. No offense, but hip hop blows. And yeah, before you say, “Listen to real hip hop!,” I’ve done it. I’ve listened to this dude, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, etc. etc. It’s not good.

4. Boys Like Girls gets ridiculously big and is everyone’s “guilty pleasure.”
3. Every release from The Militia Group in 2006 will be outstanding.
2.. Saosin releases a disappointing full length (I really hope that’s not the case, but based off that Warped EP, things aren’t looking too good. Beau said they were disappointed too, so who knows.)
1. Houses comes out of nowhere and releases everyone’s new favorite album.

Best Music Video of 2005
2. Thrice – Image Of the Invisible.
1. My Chemical Romance - Ghost of You.

EDIT: Per Scott's request, I just went and watched the video for "Ghost of You," and was stunned. Lump in my throat, sinking feeling in my stomach. Outstanding.

Best ‘Other’ Zine Website
4. Theprp.com – Although they still cover nu-metal sometimes, they do a good job with metal/hard rock news.
3. Punkrocks.net – Although everyone at PR.net probably hates me and my taste in music, I think PR is hilarious and I love the reviews, even if I disagree with a lot of them (I will never understand their comparison of Terminal to an Underoath cover band).
2. Forthesound.com – Good news.
1. Pastepunk.com – Jordan’s reviews are usually dead on, bullshit not included. I hope to some day write like Jordan.

Never saw it, so I guess I'm a bit uninformed. Gerard helped with the treatment of Thrice's video, so I bet his own videos are pretty good too.

2. The Fall Out Boy reviews.
1. Scott’s review for Scary Kids Scaring Kids.

I love you for those overrated ones. All Time Low? Generic as hell, boring pop-punk. I don't even like them, I really just don't get it.

The Darkest Hour CD had it's moments, but the production sucked and it's really nothing special. Go listen to old Extol or Children of Bodom or something.

Frances the Mute was cool for about 20 minutes, then I wanted to kill myself with all the ambient shit. That band got too progressive for their own good. Deloused still pwns though.

The Higher - just not good, period.

Nightmare of You was good for like a week, it really reminded me of the Smiths, but man that album just DIED on me. No lasting power for me.

I'm also honored to be essentially both of AP.net's biggest controversies this year. Haha.

I personally despised the Helena video. If you want cliche, think velvet insides to the umbrellas and a woman waking up from her coffin to dance. I mean, come on, there's a limit to where you can take it. I had a friend watching the video, and as it cut between the woman and the audience, he said "She's gonna wake up isn't she", and when she did, he told me to change the channel. I know it fits the song, and the editing is good, but the Ghost Of You is by far their better video.

I know music is opinion and it's obvious that everyone will have different opinions on what they listen to. I just think that if you really thought music was opinion, you wouldn't have gone on that entire hip-hop rant. I'm not trying to pick a fight, not at all. Dude, just shut up. Nothing is going to come of you posting little jabs at people, even face to face you would be looked at as an idiot, and this is an internet thread. So don't think anything negative you are saying will be taken seriously. The only reason I am posting this is because I thought Rohan's first comeback was hilarious and because I want to know why Anberlin is not getting any real praise, I think it is one of the top thirty CDs of the year easily. Also, I love the Jealous Sound mention as most anticipated, but what the fuck? Brandston is realeasing in march as well and who did not fall in love with "Send Us A Signal"?

Evidently you are quite the defensive person(I wonder why?), I wasn't trying to embarass you. I said nothing witty and never claimed to represent anyone. I was just tired of your arrogant little posts so I said I thought they were pointless, which they were. I primarily posetd my comment because I had some "music-related" topics to discuss, which I said by the way. So next time you respond with such sarcasm and defense, remeber that you are no longer in middle school and all the other kids are picking on you. Move on.

FINCH IS THE BEST GROUP IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!
