Favorite Album by Silverstein? I went with DTW, but I love them all to death.

When Broken Is Easily Fixed, is clearly their best release to date, in my opinion, but Discovering the Waterfront is almost as good. After that, I began to lose interest.

Have they even released a good album yet?

When Broken Is Easily Fixed. I still think they need a new vocalist, though.

DTWF I will admit is a grand album. in fact, it includes my favorite song. But I will admit A Shipwreck in the Sand has to be my overall favorite. All the songs add up and I can't find a low point on it.

Good yes. Great no
I suppose I did judge too quickly. The only albums that I've heard are When Broken is Easily Fixed and Discovering the Waterfront. Neither of which are worth much praise.

I liked DTW but had my reservations. A and D, I think they were moving in the right direction although I don't like it as much. And I haven't heard Shipwreck but I've heard good things which excites me.

While their new one is probably the band's best work, my favorite is When Broken is Easily Fixed for nostalgia.

They all suck.
This should have been a poll option.

How much better is it than Arrivals and Departures?

I'd say it's significantly better than Arrivals, which I thought was a step down from Waterfront -- maybe not a step down, but it just seemed like more of the same. I guess the band has never been one to write out of their norm, but by the third full-length it just seemed like a B-sides record, whereas the new one is almost like a breath of fresh air without actually changing much... if that makes any sense. In any event, it has more stand-out tracks so give it a try.

Just listened to the stream on Myspace. Thought it was really good, but definitely in the same vein as the rest of their stuff. I agree with you on the "not writing out of their comfort zone" thing.

I bet most of these people bashing them secretly listen to them and like them, but dont want to look 'scene'
