View Full Version : If That Actor/Actress Is In It..

Lueda Alia

Are there any actors or actresses that would make you watch whatever movie they're in, no matter how bad it may be?

I've watched some pretty bad movies just because some actors/actresses that I love have been in them. I'll try to make a list in a bit.

I watched How To Lose Friends And Alienate People just for Simon Pegg. The movie was so bad.

I'm gonna go ahead and say no. There are times I'm more excited for a movie because of a particular actor (for example, I'm mostly excited about Terminator Salvation cause of Bale), but I don't think I'd ever follow an actor's career. Usually the movie has to interest me first, cast second. Some exceptions. I saw 21 cause of Spacey, saw Burn After Reading cause of the ensemble. But I still don't think I'm a follower.

I've gotten into the hype more for certain movies because of certain cast members... but I don't see a movie just because an actor. Though, like, I never would've watched LOST had I not been a fan of Dom Monaghan in LOTR and heard he was in it. Stuff like that happens occasionally.

Usually though it's not like a bad movie, more like an ok movie that I'm on the fence about seeing, but then I'm like oh nice Robert Downey Jr. is in this

Lately its been Simon Pegg, Seth Rogan, Bill Hader, Jason Segel, and Jonah Hill who tickle my comedy fancy...

But I also watch pretty much every movie I find with Robert Englund in it (trust me there are some bad ones!!)..anything Tarantino signs off on...a big Vinnie Jones and Larry Bishop fan..Michael Madsen is another one I really like

Yeah, that's what I meant. I don't really think I follow any actor's or actress' career, but I've definitely watched some (read: a lot of) movies because of the cast.

Yeah me too, occasionally there will be a plot that sounds fascinating but I'd say about 9 times out of 10 I see a movie for its cast, well that's not entirely true sometimes I pick movies based on genres-like I'll be in the mood for a comedy or an action movie

Christian Bale- I was a big fan of him prior to the Batman hype, and loved all his movies, now since the Batman shit I don't really care to see him but shit like the Prestige, Equilibrium and Rescue Dawn I think are 10x more fitting for him than grunting in a bat outfit like a fucking idiot.

Keanu Reeves- This dude was my holy grail in high school thanks to the Matrix trilogy, fuck Lord of the Rings, no matter how shitty the roles he takes are today (see, the Day the Earth Stood Still, Street Kings), I still have to watch any movie with his name because he got me through high school entertainment wise and I feel like I owe him/hope he churns out something good again.

Jim Carey - Dude is a fucking legend, helped me through my child years with tons of laughs, thanks Ace. I will always watch anything with his name on it no matter how many steps he's lost or how shitty the movie is, he still makes me laugh, Yes Man and Fun With Dick and Jane are still okay movies, nothing like his older work but I mean, nothing will ever top him being on In Living Colour

Vince Vaughn - I pretty much like every movie he is in, even if Mr and Ms Smith was fucking garbage, he was still the best part. The Break Up is such an underrated movie and any male is a sissy fuck if you haven't enjoy that flick with your lady friend. Also his role in Into the Wild, pretty fucking cool.

obvious actors that I will watch anything they are in: Robert Di Nero, Jean Reno, Joe Pesci, Woody Harrelson - none of these guys never really made a movie I didn't at least like so no care ever and will watch anything they slam their name onto. But all the actors I named have some sort of growing up attatchment/influence, so I can't say I actually enjoy any new(er) actor of the last 5 or so years. Most of it, like these Apatow guys churning out the same fucking comedy 10 times a year are so fucking shitty in my opinion.
