I need advice on pricing. I have a Mesa Dual Rectifier Solo Head that I bought for $1800 at Guitar Center. I also have the slanted 4x12 cab that comes with it but I bought it used. The head is brand new, It was a compulsive purchase and I never really use it (I play acoustic 99.9% of the time).
How much would you sell it for? By the way, I'm gonna sell it locally, so give honest advice because it won't be up on eBay for you to buy. :P

You could probably get about a grand for it. My friend just got a slightly used triple rec for $1,000 and I know someone else that got a brand new dual rec w/ a straight cab for $1,800.

A grand? That's depressing. Hopefully I can sell it for 2 grand at least.
I've seen duals go for about 1100-1200, and rectifier cabs go for about 600 on craigslist.

prepal.com is an awesome site where you can look up how much your gear goes for on ebay with up to date results. I use it all the time

start at $2k and take as low as $1600 if you want. those cabs hold their value pretty well, the heads, eh. Should be able to get at least $1200 for the head alone.

Haha, you bought this shit for $1800 and you want to sell it for $2000? Get a grip. This is a buyer's market. The economy is down and people just aren't buying gear the way they used to. For used gear I generally cut the price I paid in half in terms of what I expect to make. Then I add a little to that number in terms of what I TRY to get. I'd say, head and cab together, $1400.

He bought the head for $1,800 and the cab for another price, I think he wants to get atleast 2 grand for both head and cab.

Yeah, going rate is about $1100 for the head and $600 for the cab. Since it looks like your head's in great condition, you might be able to get more out of it. You could try and get $2000 out of the pair, but you'll have a hard time finding that buyer.

Alright, thanks for all the replies. The head really is in great condition. I honestly believe it can sell for $2,000 (for the half stack).
We'll see. :]

I see those heads go from 1000-1200 all the time and I see that cab consistently sell for 500. Alot of people like the older 2 channel dual rectifiers though.

I fully understand him. I also understand that there are not many people out and about looking to drop $2k on this particular set up, or any, unless it's something pretty fucking stellar. This set up can be had for cheaper. And people will wait for that to occur.

Some people will pay more for like-new condition, but that is rare. He can sell it at that price, but it will take a long time to find that buyer.

That's what I'm saying- so just drop the price a bit and get the money now. To me, it isn't worth the aggravation of having shit around for x amount of months that I don't need when I could just take a bit of a hit and get the thing moved quicker. I'd rather have $1400 today than $2000 in 6 months. But to each their own, I suppose.
