It's kinda fucked up, but whatever. Nothing pisses me off more then turning on ESPN and hearing about drama for 10 minutes. Hopefully he keeps hitting.

how about the Yankees and Red sox both shut up, I'm sick of hearing about each of their players every waking moment.

Besides, he simply made a business decision. He was a key cog in the first Boston World Series Championship in 86 years, so quit vilifying him for trying to get some more coin out of the deal.

I hate the Yankees and Red Sox equally. They are the only two teams you ever hear about in the offseason. I hate all the teams with big budgets but that's probably because I'm a Brewers fan.

exactly. I hate the Yankees more than anything in the world, and I hate the Red Sox too. I'd rather shoot across (technically I have to drive around) Lake Ontario to Toronto to see a good baseball game. Especially with AJ Burnett and Lyle Overbay there now.

I'm sorry the Red Sox and Yankees have high revenue, allowing them to spend big? Until there's a salary cap, all your complaints carry no weight because MLB supports the whole rich get richer concept. My suggestion to all of you upset at New York and Boston is to put more money into your team's ticket sales and merchandise, because they aren't going to spend the money they don't take in.

A salary cap would go a long way to solve all this.. but Bud Selig can't even figure out how to break a tie, nevermind institute any kind of control.

I'm a Yankees fan, but I think it's kind of messed up that the face of the Red Sox would go to their enemy. I know it's a shitload of money and all, but staying with the Sox would have gotten Damon so much respect. It's really sad that baseball, actually all sports, have come to this. I don't see it changing any time soon, but who knows?

the yankees arent red sox arent the only teams talked about in the off season. only recently, and the talks have pretty much ceased. now the rage is about prior and tejada deal. earlier in the off season the mets made a bunch of moves that were talked about a lot too. and before konerko signed everyone was focused on him

I've never complained because the yankees and sox can outspend everyone, I'm just tired of hearing of their every single move. It's not that important. Neither team is winning the world series, or even making it to the world series.

And, the Blue Jays have spent a lot of money to go from mediocre to mildly above mediocre. AJ Burnett is not the next Roger Clemens. The Blue Jays overspent only to remain the third best team in the AL East.

He wanted a 7 year deal and the Sox offered him 4 years at 28mil. That's barely any more than he made in the past few seasons. He waited for another offer from them and none came. The Yankees came out with 4 years and 52mil, and he still waited for the Red Sox to counter offer, and they did not. He would have waited longer but was given until midnight to make his decision, and with no word at all from the Sox, he signed with us. What do you expect him to do? The so-called "Face of the Red Sox" doesn't even get a solid offer from the team that he may as well have owned? I'd have gone to the Yankees too.

First of all, go back to your first sentence and fix it. The sox offered 4/40 and stood firm. Where is the logic in 4/52 when his best years (04 was his peak) are probably behind him? His range in the center is deteriorating, he has no arm, and last season his numbers dropped in the second half. This is a very dangerous, injury concerned, signing. The yanks may of stepped up, but 4/52 may not look so good in a couple years.

Alright you can leave all the homophobic stuff out of this, that being said, he is an ass. To hell with him and the Yankees. They are not going to win the world series next year, they thought they had it locked up with their aquizition of Randy Johnson, and all he did was stink up the place. Damon is getting old, he has no arm strength, and he did it for the money, and therefore he's not going to win jack.
