oh man I'm terrible at those...if you mean bands they sound like
The Flatliners are kind of melodic hardcore-ish...definitely not screamo, really good stuff, one of my favourite bands of late

Small Sins are more indie pop type band, a little bit of techno, kind of mellow

Park is a band I just heard about recently, they have really good lyrics in my opinion, and are kind of indie rock/pop-ish, more pop though

The Miniatures had a pretty big hit in 'Dead Flowers' a couple years back, but they are terribley underrated = Alternative

Brandtson is kind of Alternative/Rock/Indie decent stuff worth a listen

Driver F is really poppy and really catchy, they use horn, but are not quite ska
haha my bad,I kind of suck when it comes to sounds like type things, hopefully this rambling helped

Not sure about Short Stak because I've never heard them, but Hit The Lights= Basic pop-punk. It's okay if you're into that
And A Day To Remember makes songs that sound exactly the same. Over and over and over again.

I'd recomend Sigur Ros and You, Me and Everyone We Know simply because I recommend them to everyone
Also Weaver at the Loom, Lydia, Gatsby's American Dream, Closure In Moscow, As Cities Burn, Manchester Orchestra, Cursive
Sorry if those are in your folder already. I skimmed it.

I'd definitely go for some Wild Sweet Orange.

I heard about these guys when I was in Birmingham a few weeks ago and they're all i've been listening to since. That folder says you might like them.

Check out the new Fake Problems (http://www.myspace.com/fakeproblems) album and the Hurt (http://www.myspace.com/hurt) album Goodbye to the Machine. Fake Problems sound similar to Against Me! and Hurt is heavy rock like Seether.

Some others:

Embrace, Owls, Nation of Ulysses, Grinderman, The Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, Pissed Jeans, Young Widows, The Aquabats!, Oh No! Oh My!, Black Star, The Aggrolites, The Specials, Boys Night Out, and The Toasters. Not totally sure about all of those, but you may get a kick out of a few of them.

EDIT: Also, try out This Town Needs Guns, The Kinison, and Kut U Up. The vocalist to Kut U Up's voice reminds me of Guy Piccioto's for some reason, so I wonder if it's just me or if someone else also thinks so. Plus, The Kinison's full length was produced by the people who produced "The Shape of Punk to Come".

Wow, actually some good recs!

Digging Jesus Lizard. Not really big on early ska. For Black Star, are you talking about the Mos Def / Talib collab? I couldn't get into it. This Town Needs Guns sort of reminds me of a faster American Football.
Of Colour and Wild Sweet Orange are awesome.
Don't know how I forgot Deftones.

Haha. I dig the Black Star. And yeah, Deftones are pretty cool. I've been into a lot of Jesus Lizard lately. You might dig Pissed Jeans, Young Widows, and a lot of Nick Cave's projects.

I'll give it a spin later.

Nick Cave is a fucking god, and I've been meaning to get into some of his other work. All I have is Murder Ballads so far. Should I start with Grinderman and work backwards, or go back to the roots and work forward?

What ever float's your boat. If you like the raw intensity go with Grinderman, but if you dig the repetitive noise rock/no wave stuff start with The Birthday Party. I like both though.

Could always go for some classic indie jams:

Pavement
Yo La Tengo
Silver Jews
Belle & Sebastian
Beulah
Guided By Voices
Beat Happening
Sebadoh
etc.

Saw a few jazz artists so:

Thelonious Monk
Herbie Hancock
Sonny Rollins
Bill Evans
Ornette Coleman
Chick Corea
etc.

Then listen to Talk Talk, Aphex Twin, Biosphere, Tortoise, Talking Heads, Steve Reich, etc.
