that's kind of a vague statement. do they mean 'bury' as in retiring material from the record? and how will this new one compare to War?

i know, and i dont have tickets.... it stunk. i was supposed to go tommorow but the ride fell short again for the 2nd year and a row.
Geoff has said many times that War All The Time almost didn't happen. He said they had to grind out the songs, that it took forever, and that it was a real struggle to do. That was the first time Thursday "almost broke up" or "did break up", depending on which band member you talk to.
The second time they "broke up" / "almost broke up" was after their European tour and Geoff just came down with so many medial issues.. they decided to hit the studio, and give it one more shot--if the chemistry of Full Collapse was there, then they'd continue being a band.. if not, then they'd be done forever.
Luckily, they all clicked (perhaps the demos we have?) and this new album will kick ass.

It was a little shorter than i hoped, but it was one of their better sets. Velocity sounded soooo good live. This album is going to be awesome

Its been over four years since Full Collapse, and its been a while since War All the Time too, I imagine what they meant is that they want to show the growth cthey have clearly. Also they were the band that set off alot of bands in the sceamo scene (most of which who sound exactly alike), and maybe want to put that whole sound behind them. Whatever happens, it should be interesting though.

What did the new songs sound like? Were they ones from the demos?
And I heard they were going to re-work some of the older songs to give them new life, did anyone notice any changes?

Full Collapse is going to be very difficult to top, and they know that. Something tells me that Rickley may have found a way. I hope it delivers.

It will be impossible to capture that feeling you had the first time you heard Full Collapse. At the time it was somewhat groundbreaking and amazing. I just hope the new album is great, War All the Time was pretty good but took a while to get into. I know there will be never be another Full Collapse I just want another great Thursday album.

Yeah, they were from the demos. And about re-working some songs, Geoff screamed a lot more than he usually does. The older songs seemed much more intense.

Also, I didn't post this, but when I talked to Geoff @ the Sound Check Party prior to the show he said their idea was to put out a double album, but they decided to make one great album. They have a couple extra songs and we tried to convince them to put out an EP and he said well we'll see and he smiled.
2 of the new songs were slow and at this velocity is one of their best songs I've heard live. It is good to see that Geoff can scream again. Before one of their newer songs, Geoff basically told everyone that keeps writing about broken hearts and so forth to go fuck themselves and to stop writing those songs to sell records. He said they were proud to be a band for 8 years and not really receive huge mainstream success. Thursday is back and better than ever.

Seeing this makes me so excited, Im leaving North Carolina at 5am tomorrow morning to drive to Starland to see them tomorrow night (this was part of my Christmas present) so I am ecstatic now.
Who else is going to the show that night (the 28th show, not the 27th)?

umm, well they pack it in and it is pretty dark so if you can't make it to the front no point in bringing a camera. also, they do have metal detectors. So if you really want to bring one in, wear a belt with a metal buckle and tuck it in there.

Also, House of Blues is in the Showboat Casino
I WAS THERE. Definitely the best show I've ever seen. They were so amazing- Geoff was doing a lot coughing and looked extremely thin, but it was amazing. They played three new songs, everyone better than anything we've heard. Geoff jumped into the pit after the show. I got a cipture on my phone, an autograph on my ticket, and a hug. Thursday was my favorite band when I went, I can't describe what they are now- I love this band more than life.

I also went last night. Life changing experiece...not so much so because of Thursday, but because of mwY. I cannot even begin to explain how amazing I feel about that band. Anyways...
Thursday played amazing, and after the show, I ran into Geoff several times and exchanged words(as said before, the HOB is part of the Showboat hotel, the same one I stayed in along with Geoff and his grilfriend) and he was one of the kindest people I've ever met.
But if you're going tomorrow night with mwY, you're in for a fucking treat to say the least.

This is my first show really (I've only been to small shows, >200-300 people). I was just wondering, if I hang out after the show will I get to meet the guys and all that fan boi stuff? How long do people usually stay after for that?

No one ever talks about Waiting. I love that album. "Ian Curtis" is a brilliant song. But they don't play much from that album. Too bad. I'm not really sure how they are going to "bury" Full Collapse because as much as I love Thursday...they still sound like the same band. They've matured and changed, but shit, it's still Thursday alright.
I was dissapointed they didn't play War All The Time, Steps Ascending, or Tommorow I'll Be You. At This Velocity and Jet Black were definitely the highlights of the set. Geoff stage dived directly on top of me.
This Song Has Been Bought To You Buy A Falling Bomb was pretty amazing too.
The entire crowd was singing, it was intense. Geoff hung around in the pit for about 20 minutes after the show, that's where I met him.

full collapse is way overrated
I love Full Collapse, but I like War All The Time more.

12/27/05, 08:50 PM
IF you like War all the time better ur an idiot and not a real fan. There..
To set the record straight Geoff said that He knows all the fans like full collapse more than war all the time so this new record they will Bury the shit out of full collapse. They Didnt play war all the time out of respect for the real fans. That song in a way is why the almost broke up. They didnt like the main stream direction there art was taking.
Also Id like to add that it was Funny when Geoff dissed about 90 percent of all the other emo bands out there. I was confused but I thought it was true. Im glad Thursday has respect for real music and is true to themselves and there fans but I wish that didnt mean theyd have to tour with shitty bands like Converge.
I want them and glass jaw to tour...
