Ok, so, I'm in a band called Back Seat Riot, and we've been together for roughly four years now. For some reason, we still do cover songs, and our last cover was Lil Wayne's Lollipop, which can be heard at www.myspace.com/backseatmusicnj. Our singer always wants to cover a Beatles song, even though to me, it's kind of out dated. Last night he texted me "Let's cover Twist and Shout", and I told him "No, don't want to do it." A mini sober guy vs. drunk guy argument ensued.
But I think that if any band were to cover a Beatles song, it shouldn't be Twist and Shout.
So, this raises my question...
What Beatles song would you like to hear covered?

Eh, I don't think it would be that bad to cover "Twist and Shout". I guess it depends on what kind of music you play and what kind of mood you're going for - there's a hell of a lot to pick from.

I can't access MySpace right now to see how your band sounds like. But anyway, I always thought a more rock-ish "Magical Mistery Tour" cover could sound fun if done right.

Depends if you could do any justice. Because a lot of the covers I've heard just fall on their face.

I've always wanted to hear a good cover of Martha My Dear.

My fave is Here Comes The Sun, but I'm worried you'll ruin it, so don't try.

Don't cover the Beatles.
Agreed. It can only end badly.

there are so many different types of songs within the beatles' discography.
i'd generally say don't do it... i think that mostly literal covers of the beatles end up the best vs. trying to change it to a different genre (which i'm guessing is what you want to do).
but if i'd have to choose i'd say "you've got to hide your love away." i loooove that song
