Due to outstanding costs of allowing full album streaming, Deep Elm Records (http://www.deepelm.com) will no longer have full albums up for streaming on MyWire. Each band will now only have 3 songs from each album up for streaming starting January 1st.

MYWIRE AUDIO...Big Changes

As of Jan 1, you will NO LONGER be able to listen to full albums online. Mywire will feature 3 songs per release only. So if there are some full albums you want to hear, LISTEN NOW! You gots 5 days, so get on it! So many people have been listening to full albums that we cannot handle to data transfer cost. We recently got a bill from our ISP that gave our fearless leader John a heartattack (but he'll be fine). You know what they say, all good things must come to and end! As soon as one of our bands goes platinum, we'll get them all online again for ya.

Perhaps a smarter idea would have full album streams for a membership costs? I know if a label charged like 1 or 2 dollars a month to stream an album before it came out I would pay it. Or possibly charge to just stream the album if someone doesn't like all the artists. Once the album is up for stream and you pay for your monly membership, the album stays up for the year for viewing.

2005 seemed like a pretty good year for Deep Elm overall, I hope they can keep it up in 2006.

isn't Deep Elm a not-for-profit organization? ;)

It would be a shame to see Deep Elm go bankrupt or have other financial problems... they are a great label. Lock and Key is so underrated it's insane.
