It's a shame these guys don't have a thread yet. First Temple just came out Tuesday and it is fantastic.
Any thoughts on this band?

I like what I've heard. Will be checking out First Temple.

How did they get Aaron Gillespie??

Haha, I think maybe they cloned him?
Then I think it's safe to say: In before the trend.

I enjoy the album. I do get a Cedric Bixler-Zavala meets Anthony Green vibe from the vocals. pretty solid. they are a cut above this whole "angelic singing-meets-technical guitars" thing that seems to be all the rage these days
I listened to a couple songs on youtube, and couldn't really decide if I liked it or not. I'll probably check out the album in full at some point this week.

Totally agree with you there. I am really really enjoying this album after such a stellar EP
The trend?
Nothing is trendier than Aaron Gillespie.

Nothing is trendier than Aaron Gillespie.
oh ok lol.
Also AP has a tendency to make bands like this get pretty hyped/popular, so we'll see. I listened to one of the songs and I think people in the Circa Survive/Dear Hunter/C&C/Fall of Troy etc cliques might get into this.

all of the bands you mentioned are or were on Equal Vision at some point, maybe Jason is getting paid to say good things about all of their bands.

I think you mean the baby of Aaron Gillespie and Jonny Craig
all of the bands you mentioned are or were on Equal Vision at some point, maybe Jason is getting paid to say good things about all of their bands.
That would explain their similarities. I just threw Dear Hunter in there, they don't sound as much like the EV bands, but it's a similar crowd I think. I didn't see Jason saying anything about this band, did he? I first heard of them yesterday.

Steve Henderson really pumped these guys up and that is where I heard of them from.
Johnny Craig is the former vocalist of Dance Gavin Dance, now vocalist of Emarosa

Ohhh, never heard those bands, but sounds about right for how to make a baby Gillespie clone.

Yeah I don't like either band that Johnny has been in. They are on Rise Records too.
Liking them!!! Maybe this is a band I can catch on their first tour in the UK.
The lead singer sounds exactly like Ronnie from Protest The Hero

I think you (^) mean RODY, he is the singer in protest the hero, they both have pretty high voices but the deliveries in their vocals are so totally different.

I was expecting something good after their EP, but the album surpassed my expectations. "A Night At The Spleen" is my favorite track.
First temple is good, but it's missing something. The EP is definitely better.

I'm seeing them on Thursday, I am beyond stoked. Anyone know if they're good live? And I know it's far fetched, but anyone know their setlist for the Madina Lake tour?
I'm interviewing them before the show, anyone have any questions they want asked?
they are rather amazing live, have seen them countless times here in Australia. I dont know what the setlist would be like now, last time i saw them it was pretty much the EP and then a couple of new songs which are now obviously songs from first temple but this was a while ago.

Just saw these dudes tonight. Interview was hilarious and they gave me really awesome answers. Just genuinely legit dudes. They were fucking awesome live, but the crowd was awful. There was no more then 30 people there, and I'm pretty sure I was the only one who was there.
I think you (^) mean RODY, he is the singer in protest the hero, they both have pretty high voices but the deliveries in their vocals are so totally different.
My bad. It was late :(
Noy sure if First Temple is as good as Fortress though....PTH are pretty much amazing.
The EP and Full Length are both awesome. Hope they come to the UK soon.

I liked them, not love them, so it was a real surprise when I went to Warped and they put on such a great set. really tight, played the best songs from the CD, and yes the singer was a tad different, started jacking off the mic. rather funny

I'm resurrecting this thread. Closure in Moscow are the best fucking band, wow! They're like a laser focused Mars Volta. They just keep the important parts and lose all the fat. Is it just me, or am I the only one so effing impressed by CIM's guitarists (they're what I strive to be like). They're so creative. Love them! I need new music... now. :[

It wasn't their lead guitarist who left, it was their bass player. Having just seen them recently the new rhythm section is brilliant with boarder variety of influences coming in. They played one new tune and it was very mars Volta (even more then usual). New album is going to be worth the wait

They are very much alive. Seen them here in Australia a few months back and they are playing live tonight with a mates band Siren Lines. The show was insane, heard a new song that is pushing it so close to being a mara Volta track. Honestly a solid band that is worth every penny in seeing and supporting. Apparently a new single has been mixed and mastered and we should hear it soon while they finish the album
