That's what this Moran wants to do. You know, to protect the children and such.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous. I worked in a doctor's office over the summer, and ED is a very legitimate problem that is definitely helped by these drugs. I'm tired of this push for censorship because people don't want to be bothered by raising their kids...

I support this in theory because ED commercials are some of the most obnoxious things on TV today.

I agree that they (and all pharmaceutical) commercials are annoying as hell and we're just going to take what our doctors prescribe anyway, but should they be illegal?

so going a quick google search; all countries except the US and New Zealand ban direct to consumer prescription drug ads

I would actually support a full ban on drug ads before the selective banning of ads that the legislature has deemed "risque". Most of the drug companies' best advertisement comes from their reps sucking doctors' dicks anyway (metaphorically of course). The main reason that this case in particular bothers me is that is seems to be exclusively using the "little ears" approach, rather than the "your doctor went to medical school and knows what will help you, not the voice on TV" approach.

I'm going to start a campaign of "Wakefield for Cy Old" so I love the avatar.
On topic with the thread though...yeah pharm ads are ridiculous. They spend 30 seconds talking about how great the med is, then 15 seconds talking really fast about how it can kill you, what's the point?

eh, irritable bowel syndrome is a legitimate problem, but i don't want to see commercials talking about uncontrollable pooping.
i don't mind this legislation. the ads are annoying and if someone really needed such a drug, theyre going to get their info from a doctor, not a 30 second ad on espn.

Infringement of the first amendment, maybe parents should actually be accountable for their children

haha thats funny... the country i live in and the country i WANT to live in HAHA
either way: i think ED commercials should be banned just because they annoy me
but this is America, and i know "freedom of speech" and the capitalist economy will make this less likely
i doubt its corrupting kids, but i do remember hearing that ED commercials are now only allowed after 10PM?

Looks like someone failed to read the article:
That’s a bill that Rep. Moran introduced last month that would prohibit any ED ads from airing on broadcast radio and TV between 6AM and 10PM. The bill advises the Federal Communications Commission to treat these ads as “indecent” and instruct stations to restrict their broadcast to late night and overnight hours.
I don't see any real problem with this.

Something being annoying doesn't mean there needs to be legislation against it or have I had a convoluted of the legislative process? Hannity is incredibly annoying, I want a law that stops him from broadcasting or public speaking.
